Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

We get to respond to Armageddon before it actually happens. We hear that all rebellion to God and the ways of God will be destroyed at that battle.  Jesus wins easily. The birds eat the vanquished. Teaching point: don't be bird-food.

God wants to be with us knuckleheads who say YES to Him. At the end of the battle, NOBODY is left to resist Him. Only permanent punishment and separation from Him await those that persistently rebelled. Here's the point: don't be one of the rebellious die-hards. For, at the battle of Armageddon, they will be the ones who will be dying hard. Let's respond rightly, humbly, gratefully BEFORE the battle.

Two great feasts are described in Rev Chapter 19. One is the wonderful marriage supper of the Lamb to His church.  PEOPLE are invited, and INTIMACY with God is on the menu.

In contrast, there is also a "great supper of God" that you DON'T want to be at because
BIRDS are invited and PEOPLE are on the menu.  That's right, the bodies of humans are eaten.  The birds are doing clean up after the battle of Armageddon. Who knew that birds would play such a big role in Revelation? 

Good news: you are currently invited to the supper of intimacy. However, the invitation does not last forever! RSVP today!

If we really knew that Jesus was coming back with His people in heaven to His people on earth, what kind of people ought we be now?

Those that choose separation from Him now are separated from Him eternally. They will be away from the presence of the Lord and His glory.  Teaching point: you don't want to be one of these people.

The return of Jesus:

• will be PUBLIC. Everybody will see it
• will be met with some MOURNING. There are those who continue in their refusal, rebellion, and resistance toward God.
• will be POWERFUL. His enemies will be like a few grains of salt in comparison with  Jesus
• will be SUDDEN. Like a thief in the night.
• will be NO SURPRISE. He's told us it is coming
• will be a day of WRATH for those who deserve it.

Jesus comes back. That fact alone is amazing. He's coming to finish what was started at the crucifixion and resurrection. He's coming back to MAKE WAR.

We are waiting for You Jesus. And, we are waiting for you IN THIS WAY. He's coming in judgment. He's coming to strike down the rebellious nations. He's coming to rule with a rod of iron. He's coming to tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God.

The Bride of Christ is not a PERSON, it is a PEOPLE. It is a group of people called His CHURCH.  He's been heavily invested in this group for thousands of years. The Bride is supposed to BE READY.  This happens in three ways

1. HE makes her ready.  His love attention and selection changes everything
2. She makes HERSELF ready INDIVIDUALLY. This is the job of every saint. Every bride on an oar and every oar in the water. 
3. WE make OURSELF ready COLLECTIVELY.  
            There is no call to God that is not also a call to His people
                     When you are saved, you are saved into HIM and into HIS people

I have an appreciation for the angel that John temporarily worships.  He could have received the worship that John sent his way. He could have said in his little angel-heart something like, "You are right John! I am pretty glorious!  I'm worthy of this affection directed my way. You should worship me!" 

Instead he says: "You MUST NOT DO THAT . I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers..." The angel gets it right.  He has volition and agency, and refuses worship of himself.  He redirects it toward God. He is humble. He is helpful to John.

Babylon is thrown down with violence. Those who were aligned with her mourn, but not too closely, as they fear being caught up in her judgment.  They stand off in fear as the economic and religious system that LEAVES GOD OUT is thrown down. 

She is righteously punished.  In her, there is found the cargo of the souls of men and the martyred blood of the saints.  She has abused slaves and saints.

Revelation is scary. But at the same time, it is REASSURING. We hear how God's got this in control.  He's perfectly powerful.  He's perfectly just. Nothing here is a big surprise to HIM, though it is to US.

The moral and behavior system that LEAVES GOD OUT has GOT TO GO.  Her time is up. Judgment has arrived. There are no more chances to respond yieldingly towards God for her. Babylon represents a moral system that LEAVES GOD OUT.
