The Crushed Monocle Podcast is where Jon and Coop talk about stuff. ALL the stuff! Music, movies, shows, life, or whatever. Naturally, they will mispronounce names, exhibit crippling self-awareness, and never fail to profess their love for the 1995 masterpiece, Showgirls. Regardless of the topics of discussion, Jon and Coop always recommend the music you should be listening to. This is why you must subscribe to this podcast on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you consume fine podcasts. This is the Crushed Monocle Podcast: Episode 40 – Brandon Perras
As an actor, writer, and director, Perras is an accomplished tastemaker of all things horror trash. His films Death Drop Gorgeous and Saint Drogo have been extremely popular at various festivals and he has become a progressive beacon for LGBTQ indie filmmakers. Outside of filmmaking, Perras is an author and an accomplished musician in the Providence noise-rock scene.
Do all these topics interest you? Sure they do! The takes are as hot as the cast of an 80s slasher movie! We may not be elevated as an A24 wine-tasting event, but we sure do love us some trash bin escapades! So, don’t investigate that strange noise, get busy in the woods just yet. Go listen to Brandon, Jon, and Coop talk about stuff. All the stuff!

Something of a supergroup, Human Impact is made up of members of Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop, Daughters, and Made Out Of Babies. Their music is dark, aggressive, and perhaps even a little post-apocalyptic. Blending elements of noise, ambient, and industrial while maintaining the DIY of the New York hardcore scene. For their sophomore album Gone Dark (on Ipecac Recordings), Chris Spencer and Jim Coleman take an organic approach to match the sound of their explosive live show.
Unfortunately, there were a few technical hiccups that caused Jim to drop in and out in the later part of this episode. That’s just an endearing reminder that Crushed Monocle Podcast is not a big-budget production but a place where the guests and hosts are just hanging out.

From the ashes of the Montreal band Ought, Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy teamed up with Evan Cartwright to form Cola. Combining elements of post-punk, alt-rock, and jazz-adjacent genres, Cola tightens up their musicianship to put the experimental emphasis on lyrics and performance. To discuss their sophomore release, The Gloss, Tim and Evan stop by as well as a brief appearance by Tim’s brand new puppy!
