Today host Mike James gets a chance to catch up with Facebook Survivors group Admin Jodi VanInwegen. 

The whole premise for the group is Hope.  Somewhere positive to hide out on Facebook.  Jodi's story is very personal and raw.  This episode had minimal editing to allow you to hear her story exactly as she spoke it.  We ask that you listen, and if you, or anyone you know needs help with domestic abuse, help them.  Find help for them, reach out. Many of us in the group have access to resources and some have been through some of the worst situations you could believe.  

This is a serious episode, with a heartbreaking story that leads to hope, take some time and have a listen.

Somewhere positive to hide out on Facebook.  Amanda is also the founder of the Sober Spartans group on Facebook. Mike and Amanda talk about life during the pandemic and how the Survivors group got started and what it means to both of them.  Amanda is also a nurse in Virginia and they discuss what it's been like in the hospital while working with patients who have covid19.  

This is a fun episode with lots of laughs, take some time and have a listen.

Today we get a chance to catch up with Virginia Nickelson and talk about training offline(or on flying from what Don says?), Spartan, Ultra racing, and her quest for the GORUCK Team Assessment.  Virginia has allot of different stories about racing and returning from injury and on making the "easy or Starter" OCRs more difficult Rucking and carrying an 80# sand bag.  Lots of great conversation and insight into the sport of rucking and how there is to much more than just marching around with weight on your back.

Mike reaches out to Coach Beast Elise to talk all things physical recovery this week.  Long term listeners would know that host Mike struggles with his weight and his overall physical fitness.  He has sustained many injuries in his life and his go to recovery has been to sit on the couch and eat potato chips.   Mike and Elise discuss where mike was mentally ready to give it all up, BeastNet, Spartan, and his race team back in September. 

In January Mike made the decision that the world was not going to get him down.  He removed the negatives from his life and decided to more forward with BeastNet and his race Family.  He started going to the gym religiously and started showing up for Brother Boggs' weekly walks. Then, as if the world was out to get him.  Coronavirus hit and closed, his gym, closed his parks, and made him consider the potato chip method......

Reminded of the fact that he has a complete home gym, thanks to donated items from James Tinco, Jeff Lantor, and more.  And then,  reminded that he has an entire obstacle course outside his home mostly donated by Jesse WCO and West Coast Obstacles.  Before getting back on the Cheetos Amber James asked if he'd like to get going on WW formerly Weight Watchers.  

Elise specializes in recovery PT and has lots of solid advise to offer Mike.  We should start to see more follow up episodes with her checking up on Mike's progress.

Mike discusses the beginnings of the group and how it was always meant for others to run. Mike and Don just had the idea. Lisa, Jodi, and Amanda run the group. Mike and Lisa  talk about what's going on in the world with Covid 19, coping with it, and how to reach people and interact. Both have students in school and talk about the difficulties leaning remote.

They bring up Run a Muck with Pennies for Quarters and it having to postpone to 2021. Lisa had been named race director for 2020 and we all were working with her to make it bigger and better for 2020. That being said... watch out for a possible virtual for 2020 and back to the Muddy powerboat track in 2021.

Today Ryan and Charity Fick get a chance to talk with Taylor Sweet about OCR and COVID19.  Taylor has been racing since 2014 and competed in Tough Mudder, Spartan and more.  He has some great stories about training with Ali Tai and Michelle Ford.  Charity and Taylor talk about trying not to be star struck when working with Allison in the beginning.  Taylor has recently retooled his manufacturing company to create PPE to help out with Canada's response to the Covid19 Situation.
