Starting off is never easy. We’re no longer really beginners at programming or cooking but we try to put ourselves back in the shoes of little AQ and MRB and what it was like to know nothing. OK, we still know very little, How did we learn what little we know?

Passover is a time of year where we get together with our families, eat a ton of stale crackers, and generally stuff ourselves to the utter brink. We relive some of our fondest passover memories and wax poetic about the history of future of Jewish Food and the Deli.

For the first time, we talk strictly about programming and the concept of magic. Sadly not of the WIZARD variety, but about how we often have to think about and make tradeoffs around the magic that our tools and frameworks provide us. We talk about our favorite magical tools and tell some stories about when we’ve been cursed by its lure.

In the first of many episodes where we drag some of our friends and colleagues on to talk with us, we leaned on our friend Jed to talk about something we all share in common: Obsession. We’re all united not by our obsessions themselves, but the fact that we’re obsessed. This leads us on a great discussion of clear ice, sourdough, ceramics, and humanity itself.

As the snow begins to melt, we start dreaming about summertime and when we dream about summertime, we start thinking about the season’s official music: Hip-Hop. We talk about what our first introductions to Hip-Hop were, go deep into the late 90s underground, and finally diverge into Jazz and what our children will be listening to.

When it comes to our obsessions, nothing comes closer to reaching our inner souls then the humble Pizza Pie. We talk about our pizza ideals, some of our pizza at home rules, and generally why this simple food is so central to our lives.

What is perfection? How do you go about attaining it? Can you buy it on Amazon? Why do chefs and programmers alike get so obsessed about achieving something so clearly out of reach? Two clearly perfect people talk about the quest, peeling carrots, making soup, and banging your head on keyboards.

We consulted with each other, our spiritual leaders, our therapists, our significant others, and a host of other clerics and determined one thing: Sandwiches are The BEST. We talked about our favorite sandwiches from NYC, our home made opuses, and generally what makes a sandwich great. You might not want to listen to this without a sandwich in hand.
