We talk about his design origins, the rules of subjectivity, and of course, the book.

We’re lucky to call awesome people who live across the ocean our friends. We especially love Mathias Meyer, CEO of Travis CI, who helped us score a hat trick of topics this episode. We talk about testing headphones, butchers in Berlin, finding balance as a manager, and how Europe is so different from the United States.

Why is smaller better when it comes to software and community? We talk to a kindred grumpy old man, Justin Searls about some of the finer points of building communities, open source maintership, and the good old days of when you could understand your damn video game platform.

We were very lucky to steal an hour from our very busy and very inspiring friend, Alex Payne to talk about many things that aren’t scala programming or twitter. In an unexpected turn of events, we talked about the virtues of Veganism for an extended period of time and made some very cagey (pun intended) analogies to the world of startup culture. What’s wrong with being young, ambitious, and funded by a machine made to break you?

We had an awesome time talking with technologist and musician Stephanie Morillo about her love of music, getting into tech, and how we define ourselves by our passions. Come for the tunes, stay for the banh mi.

As MRB returned from Strangeloop 2015 we talked about some of the more interesting aspects of the conference. Specifically it raised questions for both of us about what makes a community and what is the work in building one. We had a lot of questions but not many answers so we’re looking for experts to join us in the future and point us in the right direction.

We discuss music, the magic of DIY, art and labor, and why he does what he does. We love learning from experts and Rob is a standout in his field, a dedicated craftsman, and a true mensch.
