Beautiful Work Beautiful Life episodes

  • On Meditation

All your life becomes your own through meditation.

I truly believe this and have experienced personally the profound possibilities and transformations that have made my life so incredibly good through learning to sit still with myself and tune in to my deeper truth, a strong connection with what I call the Divine, and my ability to see anything that life throws at me as a learning lesson and growth opportunity.

    On the podcast we're -

    • talking about meditation
      • sharing how we became dedicated to meditation time
        • leading you through brief mediations
          • speaking into why it's so important to develop the ability to be with yourself in this whole and restorative way
          • offering motivating tips like how it can help you enjoy the little things like waiting in a grocery store line.
          • May meditation become your pathway into all that your heart deeply desires.

          • Gratitude and More

Grateful. Gratitude. Appreciation. Feeling really good. That's what we experience when we are in the state of gratitude or appreciation.

Feeling the feeling ultimately leads us to the intention behind developing a gratitude practice. It's  worthwhile, and potentially life-changing, to bring yourself into the state of experiencing gratitude on a regular basis. I've know friends who have literally expanded their client-base and monetary income through the practice of beginning with regularly feeling grateful for what they have in the present. I've known others who have found new friends, and made new positive connections from the practice. As for myself, I love the feeling of being on the verge of tears from bringing myself into the state of appreciating being alive and connected to life in the deepest of ways.

We talk discuss the intricacies of learning to bring yourself into the state of abundance or gratitude. Don't miss this episode that is all about this goodness.

Laurel and I are ever grateful for you, our listeners.

          • Self-Care after COVID

As requested by a listener, we're addressing "self-care after COVID" - and not necessarily after having COVID.

This episode speaks into the changes that we can embrace and activate because we've lived through these last 19 months. Each of us has been affected in various ways by the impact of COVID to the economy, socializing, work-life, home-life, health and wellness, and all the other parts of existence that make up a life. Our worlds have been shook up and shaken in ways we never anticipated.

What a prime opportunity to reconsider how you live your life, how you care for yourself, and what is most important to you.

          • Am I Too Much?

Has anyone ever told you that you were "too" sensitive, enthusiastic, intense, emotional... whatever it might be? Do you worry that you're "too much"? Maybe that you're not enough?

My special guest, Bri McCorkell and I have both had this experience. We're tackling this "too much" topic on this podcast episode and reframing this to help you find peace with, and maybe even, new meaning for any time you may have been told you are too much.

This is a beautiful time for sensitive souls, highly conscious folks, to step forward and claim your abilities, gain skills and use your inner resources for higher service. If you feel called to more fully express yourself, explore your sensitivities in new ways, shed the burdens of carrying around other peoples' energy and problems, and want to feel more confident in your unique gifts, this episode is for you.

          • Selfish as Self-Care

Selfish - such a loaded word. It's been a journey to find the "good" in selfish in my own life. Am I grateful that I found my way into letting selfish come alive in my life. When we decide that self-care is selfish, we live in a downward, self-limiting spiral that's ripe for taking us into not only overwhelm but eventually burnout.

In this podcast we do our best to understand how we came to be stuck in the pattern of becoming "selfless", why we might think that's a good thing, and what it actually looks like when we are playing that out in our day-to-day lives. Then we invite our listeners to challenge the status quo around claiming that being selfish is bad or wrong, and can actually be about proper self-care.

We'd love to know your thoughts on this topic! As always, questions are welcome. We'll answer any questions on future episodes.

          • The Path of Self-Trust

"Holding myself accountable - self-trust is nothing more than simply trusting myself to do what I say I am going to do." This message from Laurel Boivin got cheers from me during the podcast!

Self-trust can be an antidote for some of the anxiety that is prevalent in the world today. As we explored self-trust on the podcast this week many related topics emerged such as faith, trust in what you believe in, trust in others as a reflection of trust in yourself, and how we are expected to trust organizations and systems in the world that are now unraveling. After you listen to the podcast this week, you may believe as we do, that self-trust is a worthy and valuable path to pursue to feel confident and to live a beautiful life.

The book Laurel Holland mentions in the podcast about your family relationships playing out at work is "How Did My Family Get In My Office?" by Bonnie Artman Fox.

          • What is Codependency and what can we do about it?

Co-dependency has become a term that we often use or toss about but don’t truly understand exactly what it means or what it’s all about. Co-dependency, a complex topic, affects many people in families where addiction, narcissism and other dysfunctional or mental health issues exist. Pixie Hamilton and I dig in and share our personal stories of recovering from co-dependency, how it impacted our relationships and self-esteem, and how we continue to work with its tendencies in our lives today after decades of personal development.

Some highlights in the podcast are what motivates co-dependency, why it's hard to change, tips to help identify whether you might be struggling with co-dependency and then how to approach change.
