Because I'm Carlos

The guys discuss some last thoughts on the National after having watched some of the numerous vlogs. From there they show off some silly cards and then switch to the main discussion of the Burbanks/Fanatics exclusive deal and discuss some implications and some of the feedback from the initial video.

This week we introduce a new silly/interesting card segment. Carlos knocks another card off the dwindling 95’ Modano checklist and the guys spend too much time discussing this development and #playercollector problems.

From there the discussion goes to CGC and JSA joining forces to do autograph authentication service, some more thoughts on the Dallas card show robbery based on a Sports Collectors Daily article, and then a main discussion on “Burnout” based on NEO Cards and Comics' video.

An estimated 7 figures worth of cards were stolen from a well-known vintage dealer at the Dallas card show and after some quick housekeeping items we discuss this, along with some takeaways and our thoughts.

Then we end on a lighter note at the end.

Mix of topics to start as we discuss Carlos' upcoming COMC order, some Gemrate data and Brandon and Eric defend the sanctity of the NBA draft which leads to a Taro Tsujimoto reference.

Then in the main topic, the guys discuss the role of attachment in our respective collecting and why collecting things we actually like plays into a lot of our collecting choices.

A general discussion stemming from a Discord conversation. When some folks who were constantly around in the content space suddenly disappear, does it mean that they are no longer in the hobby, or have they changed how they engage with it?

We discuss this, the US Open, Brandon finding another item related to a previous conversation, and more.

Back to a more hobby-oriented episode with some fun discussions in between. A discussion on the update on the fake Jordan Red PMG drama and where things sit with Beckett.

Then some random hobby topics, including Ultra Pro suing BCW based on trademarks for Penny Sleeves and Toploaders, begging the question: Why now? And how can they trademark terms that are so generic for the hobby?

This episode mostly discusses the completion of the Western Conference Finals as Carlos and Bobbles have their post-mortem while Eric gets to watch other tortured hockey fans for a change of pace.

(1:07:20) Then the discussion shifts to making choices in our collecting and moving on from cards that don't serve us, even if it means selling "iconic" or otherwise desirable cards.
