Because I'm Carlos

In a historic BIC podcast episode, the guys discuss random foolishness, show off a silly card of the week (with a related prop included), and discuss being more selective in their collecting ventures.

Carlos then introduces a new rule #8 to the BIC rules, the first rule issued outside of the Friday Live Stream. Then, in the main topic, the guys discuss some thoughts around breaking and the different ways it can impact both positive and negative collectors.

More regular episode this week as the guys discuss the silly card of the week (which named the title for the episode), some generosity from PSA Canada's Brad, some thoughts on the premise of a "Hobby President" and why Carlos doesn't see it as a useful topic.

Then in the main discussion, they go over why some items cause collectors to move heaven and earth to chase them down and look for ways to make those deals happen versus other things that are more in the "nice to have" camp.

A super sized deluxe episode this week as the guys ended up discussing some football from this past week, Carlos defines the "Pacific Problem" and how it has become a factor at Upper Deck, and they finish up with discussing some of the challenges of putting together "comps" for limited cards.

Specifically the discussion centers around how the price a collector may be willing to buy has little bearing on what the actual "market value" would be or even should be.

This week the guys discuss some thoughts on NFL Week 2 as the Malik Willis era produces a game-managing win while Bryce Young gets benched after descending into the valley of sadness.

From there, they go through the regular segments followed by Carlos discussing his first experience setting up at a Card Show this past week for the main topic. He has some stories from the show, such as escaping the "Overlook Hotel" and purchasing the "Grail of Grails," much to Eric's appreciation.

This week we spend a little time discussing some odds and ends before talking about some of our favorite takeaways from Week 1 in the NFL.

Carlos explains how Brandon has successfully employed his patent pending jinx powers on injuring Jordan Love and several other players in Week 1, plus a discussion surrounding the first "Mayo Monday" as the Patriots surprised everyone in actually winning.

The brief card topic is some observations on where the Content side is sitting as we head into the Fall season.

The episode starts with a plea from former WWE star Mick Foley asking for relief from Eric's presence (yes, that does actually happen!)

From there, somewhere along the way this episode goes from contemplating the philosophical implications of a hotdog's true nature to a discussion on unlicensed cards and approaches to a hobby budget... somewhat.

We'll probably revisit the latter as a more structured discussion, but we definitely touch on the topic for this week.

After running through another round of silly cards and some general bantering, the topic shifts to AEW's All In and how Carlos sees that as an example of a "player in decline" and the guys discuss how that idea plays into PC's and collecting.

From there the discussion goes to a recent Brock Purdy NT RPA purchase that made it to social media where a dealer hid an obvious flaw with a pricing sticker.

How much responsibility goes to the buyer?

A fun mix of topics as the guys talk about some silly cards as well as high box prices and how collectors should take some accountability in making their own decisions when the value proposition doesn't work anymore.

Lastly, Eric commits crimes against cereal while they finish up with a small discussion on the recent re-obsession with the "gambling" side of breaking.
