Beck Did It Better episodes

  • Simon and Garfunkel: Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970) Ep. 172
Yes, I can confirm that the bill for $24.32 at Taco Bell was my order. I can also confirm that this is the best podcast about Simon & Garfunkel and the 172nd greatest album of all time, Bridge Over Troubled Water.

But before we talk about the music we get lost in El Segundo on a non-consecutive timeline while chomping on some Girl Scout cookies, pretzel M&Ms, and dark turkey meat, We also cover the best holiday albums, the best Madonna songs, and which state has the toughest kids per capita.

Then at (53:00) we're down on our knees, beggin you please to hear our thoughts about Simon & Garfunkel's 1970 album, Bridge Over Troubled Water. We discuss why Simon & Garfunkel broke up, Paul Simon's song-writing process, and the best rap songs featuring the flute. We also do a deep dive on the movie Air-Bud. To be clear, the rules do not say that dogs are not allowed to play.

If you're wondering why this podcast is so windy, it's because this episode sucks and next week's total trash blows when we become the best Sonic Youth podcast, and discuss the 1988 album, Daydream Nation.

  • Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation (1988) Ep. 171

Hey folks, we are here to show you how to slow down videos in incognito mode and to be the best Sonic Youth Podcast when we cover Daydream Nation (closing time is not on this album.)

We find out why [email protected] dressed up like Prince, why Beavis and Butthead are big again, and Aaron talks about the new Andre 3000 album. Russ is off to the record store, Aaron blows our mind with Turnstile, and Rob has an ALL TIME ROLLING GOING.

Then we talk sonic youth and we talk about albums that cost so much money that you could have bought some Mommy's milk (maybe too much!) The three guys ignore Rob and do a state capital bit and Matt shows his the list he put so much work into about State Capitals.

Then Aaron gives a vague memory and we waste a bunch of time looking it up.

But before we get to the album, we spend our first crappy hour sharing our thoughts on local building code inspectors, Snoop Dogg giving up smoke, how long it should take someone to eat a 32 ounce jar of Duke's Mayo, and the best foods to have delivered. We also become the best podcast about the Beatles final song, when we discuss the creation of Now and Then, and release four other unheard Beatles tracks that will leave you tappin' your toes.

Then at (59:00) we enter a world of pain when we discuss Cream's second studio album, Disraeli Gears. We cover Cream's status as a supergroup, Eric Clapton's guitar skills, and the best songs from Guitar Hero III-Legends of Rock.

  • Johnny Cash: At Folsom Prison (1968) Ep. 164

Hello...my name is Little Dick Nick the Quick Hit Dip Shit, and this is the best podcast about Johnny Cash and the 164th greatest album of all time, At Folsom Prison. And for all you Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle podcast fans, this is also the #1 Krang Live Mashup Podcast of All Time.

In all seriousness, we didn't have very lively stuff on this podcast, but we did make Paul Rudd laugh when we talked about claiming a best friend, the best way to talk to celebrities and kids who use their parents' first names. Then you can count on us to meet you in the parking lot to discuss the David Beckham Netflix series, whether a hall pass is good for a relationship, and what not to do on Beale Street.

Then at (53:00) we're combing our hair and going to Jackson to discuss Johnny Cash's first live album, At Folsom Prison. We cover the Johnny Cash career resurgence, singing along with the Man in Black, and the best country music vocal performances of all time.

  • Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977) Ep. 163

Listeners...we live in a world that has music podcasts, and those music podcasts have to be guarded by co-hosts with amazing jokes. Who's gonna do it? You, Bob Ross? You, John Popper? The Beck Did it Better podcast has a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for more music discussion, and you curse our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles talk. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know....that this podcast, while tragic, is probably the best podcast about disco music; and that our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, is the best podcast about the Bee Gees and 163rd greatest album of all time, the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

You don't want that truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you WANT to hear song parodies about cow pee and you NEED to hear us talk about sex tourism in Ft. Pierre, South Dakota.

We have neither the time or the inclination to explain ourselves to the dumbshit single-finger shifters who skip ahead to (54:00) to listen to the amazing Saturday Night Fever analysis that we provide and then question the manner in which we provide it.

We would rather that you just said "thank you" and recommend Beck Did it Better to your friends. Otherwise, we suggest you join us next week for the best Johnny Cash podcast, when we pull back the Long Black Veil on At Folsom Prison. Either way, we don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to.

Did we talk about cock cages for a second week in a row on this podcast? We did the job!

Did we talk about the real big nasty ones on this podcast? YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT WE DID!!!
