Welcome to the best Joni Mitchell podcast. If you are looking for a podcast on Joni Mitchell or a podcast on the album BLUE, this is it!
In this episode, we talk about the Joni Mitchell album Blue. We get a special treat when Cranky Matt shows up and Rob talks about the misadventures of online schooling. Aaron schools us with California anthems list and then we listen to some Joni Mitchell covers, INCLUDING THE BEST SONG EVER BY NAZARETH!
We discuss what it means to be a poet and why so many people seem to suck at it.
The Beck Line uncovers the mysteries of Matt's least favorite chore and Aaron is once again shown the be the most talented of all of us.
We also discuss how great of a songwriter Mitchell is while we talk about if we would want to be the subject of her songs.

This episode is just us comparing the old 2003 Rolling Stone greatest 500 albums list with the brand new 2020 list! This is by far the most important thing to happen in 2020 and what everyone will remember from this year.
We discuss the winners (D'Angelo) and losers (Beatles, Bob Dylan) from the reordering and how excited we are to talk a little more hip hop and Harry Styles. We look at how the new list is more inclusive of women and artists of color and how many old bands got booted off the list. Russell will then blow your mind with the number one thing he is mad about. Rob talks about why his family is a bunch of sociopaths and Matt talks about how this list made him yell at his mom. Good Times!

Sorry if this new list screwed up your 2020...
Hey everybody!
First thing, we get a voicemail talking about the famous jazz flautist Jim Horn and how he should be the flautist we are talking about instead of Herbie Mann!
Then Matt gives us some Marie Kondo type advice that involves making a hitlist in a spreadsheet for everything in your life that you hate! Like those internet subscriptions and newsletters that you keep forgetting to cancel!
Rosie then takes us on a journey through his year-long attempt to do a one-handed pushup and the rat orgy that has been occuring biweekly in his garage.
Russell asks for advice for when he stops paying attention to what his date is saying but we were distracted and instead we touch on Aaron's new series "GREAT TROMBONE STORIES FROM HIGH SCHOOL!"
We also discuss Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde at some point but it devolves into the story of the many times he chose video games over the nightlife.

In this episode, we talk about the Clash's 1978 album "London Calling." This is the 8th album on the list and we talk about our complete lack of knowledge of punk music.
Before we get into the album, we talk about Rob screwing up his wife's birthday and then Russ reveals his greatest gift-giving error. We also encounter the ghost of the Big Bopper and what he has to say will not shock you at all.
Aaron also takes you to school and teaches you the difference between Reggae and Ska and he lets us know why he loves the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
We are looking for what would be on Uncle Russ' big wheel of fun. If you have any idea, please email us at [email protected] or contact us @beckdiditbetter on Twitter and Instagram.
If you have a compliment or a bigger compliment, please share it on the BECK LINE. Call 802-277-2325 (BECK) and leave us a message and we will play it on the show.
NEXT UP: Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde.

Hey everyone,
In this clip we reflect on Aaron's worst concert experience and we ask the question a lot of people are too scared to ask... What is a honky tonk bar. You might not be able to guess which former WWF wrestler we then talk about. HINT: IT'S THIS ONE.
If you want to get a hold of us, email us at [email protected] or follow us on twitter and instagram @beckdiditbetter
Have something to say but no podcast to say it on? You are in luck. Leave a message on the BECK LINE and we will play it on the show! We are desperate for content!
In this timely episode, we talk about Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On" and how his words ring as true now as they did in 1971. Before we get too deep into the percussion and sublime vocals, we take a detour to talk about two VERY important things.
1. Rob's top 10 commandments from dating in his younger years and his embarrassing reaction to getting dumped
2. How Sisqo ripped off the Beatles to make one of his many hit songs and why he has that grey hair (Hint: Look to the old testament!)
Russ gets a record player and we then explore the wild world of the Jazz Flute. Who is the best? What does a Jazz flute look like? Why is the target all out of Jazz Flute records? Why does Russell's mom have hundreds of these albums (or did before Russ stole them.)
Take a look at this picture and you will see why this is now a Herbie Mann Podcast. Sorry, not sorry.
We also pick some songs to play while we max out our deadlifts. Everyone on the podcast definitely knows what a deadlift is.

Welcome to The Best of Beck Did It Better. We want you to listen to our podcast. We spend every night trying to figure out how to get more listeners. Then it hit us! We need less.... of us!
This is a short clip of the upcoming episode about Marvin Gaye's hit album What's Going On. In this section we talk about the jazz flute and then Matt finds THIS ALBUM COVER and then Russ tells us a dark secret that I promised him I would cut but I can't figure out how to! These computer programs are so complicated!
To be honest, this clip is mostly us laughing but it is a pretty good look at our show "BECK DID IT BETTER." We are looking at each of the top 500 albums as determined by Rolling Stone magazine.
If you don't want to be left out when everyone on Twitter is posting about Herbie Mann, hit that subscribe button wherever you get podcasts. I know you subscribe to too many but kick off a few of those NPR ones and get ready to learn 5-10 times as much information from us!
Also, if you know whether the jazz flute is in fact a different type of flute, you are perfect to call the BECK LINE at 802 277 2325 (BECK)
Thanks for listening and look at that Herbie Mann albums cover! You won't regret it.
