Why I prefer to be rejected rather than having every guy falls in love with me (not that I can't make that happens)…

I have to admit…I used to wish that I can make any guy fall in love with me…especially if I have a crush on him too…

I mean…

Who doesn't want to be well-liked or popular?

Being able to effortlessly captivate any guy's attention as soon as you walk into any room sounds like a good thing right?

It can be…

But I think being able to view "rejections" as a positive thing is way more powerful!

And this is not a skill that many people possesses.

You saw that right! This is a learnable skill - not something you are born with.

The ability to be completely okay with rejection is actually one of the most crucial things that will get you to your Mr. Right

Because, think about it,

If you were well-liked by all the guys, how would you know who is the right person for you?

Finding the right person is NOT about:

It is actually about:

I am so grateful for all the guys who rejected me before because I was able to move on from them so I can find my Mr. Right (A.K.A. my husband)!

So you can do that too! Go out there and get rejected!

It's how you'll find the right person for you!

It is funny isn't it? How we somehow always want what we cannot have?

I find it quite tragic and ironic honestly.

I wish we would love ourselves just as we are and that would be enough…

But that was not how we were raised…well not intentionally anyway.

Our parents did their best but the world and this society influenced us in ways that our parents could not even foresee…

All the media and magazines and models and beauty status that we all want to live up to…

That's all we think men wants.

Because that's how society wanted us to think.

They want to sell us things that would make us better and more attractive to men so we can then become beautiful girlfriends and wives and mothers…

We tried so hard to be perfect little girls just so men would look at us differently…so they would tell us that we are beautiful…

Why is that the norm?

Why do we need validation from the other sex that we are enough?

Why can't we love ourselves just as is?

Even though I pride myself of being the best wife ever to my hubby now…I know our relationship would not last if he did not forgive me for some of the dumb things I've done…

But that does not mean that I think all mistakes are bad…

In fact,

I view them as a way to grow and better myself as a person and even a better wife.

Making the mistakes is not as important as realizing that you are in the wrong.

The worst thing you can do for your relationship (or any other aspects of your life really) is not being able to accept criticism and learn from them.

You know that anyone, including yourself, are capable of making a mistake…

But do you know how to accept that fact?

Hi there - My name is Tien Nguyen Promlap (@fromfobtofab) and I am married to my forever hubby @jpromlap and we live in a suburban house outside of LA with our fur baby Mochi.

But before I got this dreamy life, I was the most awkward, FOB-by, & introverted teenager you could have met…

I arrived to America in 2003 at the age of 12. If you saw me then, you would have not recognized me:

At the peak of my teens, not only was I trying super hard to fit in in a foreign land and learn English (my American cousins making fun of me didn't help), I was also fighting my boy-crushes…

It was rough - always have crushes on boys but did not have the courage to talk to them or when I did, I was often rejected…

And then fast forward to the end of my undergrad and the start of pharmacy school…

I decided that I was done feeling sorry for myself because I realized that I am just as good as anyone who were born here in the States -

I should be able to date any guy I want and be with whoever I wanted to be with.

From an awkward and introverted teenager who got a last-minute prom-date because she felt pressured and thought that there was something wrong with her since no one asked her out…

…to being able to get up to any stranger at a busy bar, ask them to dance with her and be successful - because I finally realized that anyone would be lucky to dance with me.

I refused to settle and I turned the relationship table back to me instead.

Now I live happily ever after with my handsome husband in our forever home.
