How should small breweries react to the complete banning of alcoholic beverages? Is there any hope of survival? What new things can we expect from brewers and consumers?

Can craft breweries turn things around and save not only themselves, but South Africa as a country? I think it’s possible. So let’s go for it!

What a surreal time to be alive. I never imagined an episode where we weren’t allowed to sit together and have a beer. I wanted to check in with some local brewers to find out how they were coping during this global pandemic.

Nestled in the wine region of Constantia, this brewery / open style kitchen is the newest beer spot to open in Cape Town. We sit down with Murray no.4 and chat over a few of their beers. The pale ale is a winner. Life is good.

We’ve all done it. Forgotten about a few beers in our cupboard and let them collect dust. But not today! Today we drink those old beers and make them proud. Tomorrow, we deal with the consequences!

The entire brewery smelled like Willy Wonker’s chocolate factory. I was a kid again. Sometimes I think I’m still a kid. Can you blame me for getting excited over chocolate and beer? Of course not.

For the past 10 years, Cape Town has played host to one of the biggest beer festivals in the southern hemisphere. The amount of beers on offer has always pushed over the 200 mark and it draws big numbers over the 3 days. It also marks the start of summer!
