The shortest race in NASCAR's modern era still gives us lots to talk about as the playoffs draw near. With Korey back on the show as Donnie is out temporarily, we discuss everything from Chase Elliott running out of gas to who we think makes the final four at this point in the season.
Indianapolis was a fantastic race, which is surprising given the quality of the races we've had there since heading to the road course. Here's what we discuss in this weeks segments:
After the Checkers:
Michael McDowell holds off Chase Elliott to secure his playoff spot via a win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course
HMS has to go 2 for 2 in order to lock all four drivers into the playoffs. Failing to do so means it'll be the first time Chase Elliott or Alex Bowman have missed since joining HMS.
Was the Indy road course project successful or will it forever have a legacy of a wreck fest and are we truly going to see the oval back?
Before the Green
We're heading to Watkins Glen so we discuss the history, the trends and what we can expect to see there.
We sidetrack into a conversation about the importance of the regular season championship.
We also have Marilee's In-Between segment (we talk specifically about driver fitness) and Korey's Kwestion of the week!
Do we have a show for you this week! Check it out:
After the Checkers:
We had a fantastic ending to the race that was well worth the 19 hour rain delay with Beuscher going back to back
RFK continues a resurgence as playoffs approach
Noah Gragson is suspended indefinitely by both Legacy Motor Club and NASCAR
Before the Green
Indy Road Course is coming up this week, potentially for the last time
We'll see 4 drivers from different disciplines compete this week, including the return of Chicago winner Shane van Gisbergen
In our In Between segment we have a chat with iRacer and ARCA driver Brayton Laster before heading into Korey's Kwestion of the Week (live for the first time ever)
An action packed race at Richmond this week results in...wait, that's not right.
An almost cautionless race at Richmond this week means a shorter podcast then usual, but don't sleep on it!
The gang's all here and it gets FIESTY! Donnie and Evan have a fairly major disagreement on an end of race occurrence.
After the Checkers:
- Denny Hamlin wins in Pocono amidst a shower of boos after running Kyle Larson into the Turn 2 wall
- Alex Bowman wrecks and places blame at Denny
- Kyle Larson retaliates under yellow
- Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick have a run-in
Before the Green
- Return to where Kyle Larson got his first win on the season
- Kyle Busch has series leading stats
We also discuss part 2 of Marilee's In-Between series on pit crews and Korey's Kwestion of the week!

After losing audio for one of the voices the whole team had to return and do this whole show over again, and it turned out awesome!
In our After the Checkers segment:
- Martin Truex Jr. wins in dominating fashion at New Hampshire
- Ford continues to struggle, but we discuss what the underlying issues may be
- Silly Season heats up with some new Shane van Gisbergen rumors
Before the Green has us talking about Pocono and answering these burning questions:
- Why is it so difficult here?
- What went into the design of the track?
- What do we expect to see?
The In-Between becomes our first multi-week segment as we dive into pit crews before heading into Korey's Kwestion of the Week, which focusses on our favorite tracks and why!
We had a great race in Atlanta so we have a positive conversation during After the Checkers about where Atlanta stacks up against the other races of the season (and all time). We also talk about:
- William Byron: Is he the class of the field right now? Can he make Championship 4?
- Does the lack of a "Big One" at superspeedway type tracks detract from the quality of the event?
As we move into Before the Green we talk about New Hampshire and what we can expect at the home track for the Northeast of the US and all of the Maritime provinces.
The In-Between focuses on the graphic design and paint schemes as well as something a bit special called slip tape.
As always, we have Korey's Kwestion of the week and our race picks to go over as well!
We're a man short this week, but we made do!
Is there anything other than the super impressive win by Shane van Ginsbergen to discuss? Definitely!
With the off-week behind us, we're settled in for the rest of the NASCAR season. Let's see what we talk about:
After the Checkers:
- Ross Chastain wins in Nashville leading almost 1/3 of the race
- Tyler Reddick gets a 2 lap penalty for a loose tire that came off on pit road entry. Was it the right call by NASCAR?
- Ryan Blaney manages to find a wall without a SAFER barrier (or wall, as Marilee would say) and has a super aggressive impact.
Before the Green:
As we head to Chicago for the first ever NASCAR street course we look at what the race may hold, who could get a victory and what we can expect to see racing wise.
The In-Between:
Marilee takes us on an exploration of a job listing from NASCAR and we discuss how we may or may not fit the bill.
We also have Korey's Kwestion of the week and go over our picks. There's a new leader on the leaderboard and he may bring it up...a lot...
We are missing Marilee this week, but we do have some entertaining conversation to share with you. Since we completed the race recap and preview last week, we decided to take a look at the series at the (basically) mid-season point and go from there. Here's what we talk about:
How our championship 4 picks are looking currently
The biggest surprise (good and bad) of the season
Who is building momentum
Silly Season
And maybe even a bit more!
