Supercrush started out as a studio band. They would record songs and put them out, but never really did much after that. At the time, Mark Palm was the rhythm guitarist in a popular metal band. But, he always wanted a project like Supercrush. One that was his own and he gave him the chance to release his personal feelings in music form. Palm is the captain of this ship. The band continues to grow and is much more than a studio band. In 2020 they released "Sodo Pop" on Don Giovanni Records. It was 10 solid songs that served as an introduction to the band for so many music fans out there. This was finally when Supercrush went up a gear. They raised the bar for themselves. The band recently released an EP labeled "Melody Maker" on June 3. It's a collection of five songs that were recorded during the "Sodo Pop" era. Palm recorded 15 songs at that time with the intent of following up the full-length album with an EP. It was his job to pick songs that matched together. "Melody Maker" holds some instant hits like Melody Maker and Hey Christine. Make sure to give it a spin and check them out on their tour which started on June 16.

Joel Kirschenbaum has been involved in music quite literally his entire life, whether it's been booking local shows, managing his best friends' bands, or writing his own music and performing it with his friends. His approach to the world of music is a special one—in his mind, music is far too important to be left playing in the background and forgotten about. It deserves our full attention, and an intentional approach. Similarly to how he uses his visual art, music is Joel's way of journaling, and cataloging the most important moments in his life. "Kingo" is his latest series of reflections and experimentations, and should be embraced for the first time with an open mind. Although the album was written entirely by him, this project and his life in music could not have been made possible without his large group of close friends—he is sure to express the privilege of spending his days living, working, and creating with his favorite people in the world, and what could be better than that? "Kingo" was released on June 3! Check it out!

With a desire to bring change within an angry world, Shawna Potter formed feminist punk band War on Women in 2010. Potter was pissed at the world and music was a chance to make a stand. Potter felt things were getting worse and she didn't want to hold back how she felt. Music was a way to rally for a change.
There have been great strides in the acceptance of feminism. But, any time society takes a step forward, there will always be people who are resistent. So, War on Women continues to have the same topics in their songs.
One way to describe Potter's stage presense would be comfortable. Growing up she was always interested in performing arts and was involved with theater. Eventually Potter traded theater in for a guitar and got into punk music. Her music is important because it has a message that means so much to Potter and so many people who attend War on Women shows.
Letting go of what society expects from her and being free is something Potter takes pride in. However, taking a stand means having to be informed, which is something that Shawna is. She has written a book called "Making Spaces Safer." She also runs a podcast labeled "But Her Lyrics." This is not only a fun interview about Potter's journey in music, but it's extremely informative one too. Check out Potter's work below.

Jersey is often considered a "B market" when people plan tours with New York and Philly surrounding the state, but a bunch of the great bands are here (for example Bouncing Souls, Gaslight Anthem, and The Front Bottoms). Hart talks about bands around him growing up and how they paved the way for his ability to tour and continue to write songs. Some awesome bands mentioned in this episode and Jared has incredible stories from when he was breaking into the scene. In the words of Hart: "Everyone knows a band is from Jersey, no one is hiding it."
We also go into some deep subjects like watching his best friends leave bands and music as whole, and trying to keep the passion for writing through all of that. Hart says music is the only thing he is comfortable doing and the only thing he ever wanted to do. We also hear about Scandals stories, a band that accomplished so much, and never truly had a formal ending - but Hart says he was burnt out from playing the songs (leaves the door open for a show sometime down the road). We close out this episode talking about his current project, Mercy Union, and what they are currently working on.

Camp Trash is a real band I'm in it. That is the exact quote that could be found across a tee shirt the band put out last year. It's a slogan that quickly became a fixture in the DIY emo community, and even branched away when Brian Fallon could be found sporting the shirt. The joke began when Keegan would write on his Twitter for months that he was in a new band. No one believed him because there was a name out there, but no music. Camp Trash's story is a bit backwards. They grew a following on social media before even releasing a song. Keegan says its because he and Bryan are lazy at times. They will get going on something and then keep it in the wraps. Bryan states that it took Keegan 10 years into their relationship to finally say "hey, we should go record these songs." Camp Trash finally became official when they played a coffee house show with Worst Party Ever. It was a farewell show for their old band and an introduction for Camp Trash. The rest is history. The EP "Downtiming" came out in 2021 and showed that their music is for real - both literally and metaphorically. Now, the band has a huge announcement coming in the next week or two. Keep an eye out on their socials!
