You may not be aware of this, but feeling like you don't belong in the workplace can be more than just stressful...
...It can cause burnout.
And as women from underrepresented communities, we're more likely to feel excluded and unwelcome - which means we're far more prone to experiencing burnout.
That's why in this episode of Being Brown At Work, we're continuing part 2 of our conversation with Ashley Wynn-Grimes, BSN, RN, to discuss grounding practices to help us alleviate burnout.
Tune in as Ashley also takes us through the powerful results of My Human Design, a tool that empowers you to live your most authentic self by revealing your individual personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, and life path.

We often feel isolated or excluded, which results in higher levels of stress.
Over time, these feelings can lead to burnout, harming our mental health and derailing our careers.

Being the only woman and/or person of color at work can be intimidating for a number of reasons.
It can cause you to: ๐ Feel pressured to code-switch and not bring your authentic self to work. ๐Refrain from speaking up and networking with others, causing you to miss important networking opportunities. ๐ Internalize daily microaggressions which can shake your confidence to the core.
And although it may feel uncomfortable right now, by reshaping your perspective you can overcome the negativity, anxiety, and nervousness...and step into your power.
Listen in as I share my personal experiences understanding and dealing with tokenism and being the only - and a few nuggets of wisdom to help you take your career to the next level.

Have you ever felt like a "Black Workhorse?"
This term refers to when a racist leader piles extra work and responsibilities on Black and Brown employees. Why?
Because in their eyes, you're not human, you're Black. And therefore, you're "built" for carrying a heavier workload.
This dehumanizing attitude towards Black and Brown women in the workplace can lead to burnout at higher rates than their white counterparts.
In this episode, I share how I successfully stopped being the workhorse.
