STOCKS TO WATCH: $TSLA $ROKU $GE $CHGG $WAL

Tesla (TSLA) - The company will report quarterly results Wednesday after market close. Investors can tune into Tesla's Q1 earnings Q&A webcast at 5:30 p.m. EDT. Tesla has asked investors to submit questions for the earnings Q&A segment via a service called Say; while asking of new questions is now closed to the public, investors can upvote questions that have already been asked to create priority.

 

Roku (ROKU) - Shares were down about 1% following mixed quarterly results out of peer in the streaming space, Netflix (NFLX). Roku will report quarterly results next Wednesday after market close.

 

General Electric (GE) - Will publish quarterly earnings Tuesday morning. Analysts currently expect GE to report earnings of $0.14 per share on sales of about $13.4 billion.

 

Chegg (CHGG) - A play on the US education space -- now with AI exposure!. On Tuesday, Chegg announced the release of its new generative AI companion tool, CheggMate, powered by OpenAI's GPT-4.

 

Western Alliance Bancorporation (WAL) - A regional bank which posted strong quarterly results Tuesday afternoon. The stock was up more than 20% Wednesday morning.

International Business Machines (IBM) - Will report quarterly results on Wednesday after market close. Analysts expect earnings of $1.25 per share on sales of about $14.4 billion.

 

Boeing (BA) - The company will host is annual shareholder meeting Tuesday morning, starting at 11 a.m. EDT. Investors could ask for updates following the recent report of delays to Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft.

 

Charles Schwab (SCHW) - A buying opportunity in shares, according to analysts at William Blair. The analysts highlighted a recent concern at Charles Schwab: cash sorting issues. The analysts also noted this cash sorting has decelerated recently. William Blair maintained the equivalent of a buy rating on Schwab shares.

 

Presto Automation (PRST) - A company that provides AI-generated digital automation related to speech recognition for restaurant's drive-thrus. Benzinga will host the company's Chairman and Interim CEO on its YouTube channel for an exclusive interview Wednesday at a 11 a.m. EDT.

 

SAB Biotherapeutics (SABS) - Shares of this penny stock were up about 20% in pre-market action following an exclusive Benzinga Pro early-release news item: SAB received FDA breakthrough therapy for its flu immunotherapy.

Amazon.com, Inc (AMZN) - Amazon announced that it would be closing down a UK-based globally operating online bookstore called Book Depository that it had acquired in 2011. The company was founded in 2004 with offices around the world, and represents the latest belt tightening example for Amazon.

Walmart Inc (WMT) - The global discount retail giant started its two-day 2023 Investment Community meeting focusing on omni-channel retail capbilities, investing in advanced technology, reinventing its supply chain, and more. The company stated that it "Affirms FY24 guidance and commitment to financial framework of 4% sales growth and 4%+ operating income growth over the next 3-5 years".

 

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) - Famous financial pundit Jim Cramer thrashed Palantir and C3.ai (AI) saying "I think that Palantir is a series of press releases." Both tickers have recently experienced significant price drops with C3 also facing a report from short-seller Kerrisdale Capital alleging accounting issues.

 

Shell plc (SHEL) - Reports indicate that Russian president Vladimir Putin gave approval for Shell to receive a buyout of $1.2 billion from Russian gas company Novatek (NVTK) in exchange for its 27.5% stake in the Far East Sakhalin-2 LNG project.

 

Automatic Data Processing (ADP) - ADP released its March National Employment Report and Pay Insights — results indicated that the hot job market may finally be slowing down with companies adding fewer jobs than forecasted. “Employers are pulling back from a year of strong hiring and pay growth, after a three-month plateau, is inching down," said ADP chief economist Nela Richardson.

• Virgin Orbit (VORB) - The Richard Branson founded rocket company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after failing to receive new investment funding or a buyout. The company was founded in 2017 as a spin-off from Virgin Galactic (SPCE).
• e.l.f. Beauty (ELF) - Cosmetics giant L'Oreal S.A. (EPA: OR) announced its largest acquisition ever in a $2.5 billion deal to buy upmarket beauty brand Aesop from Natura & Co. (NTCO).
• UBS Group AG (UBS) - The chairman of Credit Suisse (CS), Axel Lehmann gave a public apology to shareholders, saying “We failed to stem the impact of legacy scandals, and counter negative headlines with positive facts" at the bank's annual general meeting.
• Getty Images (GETY) - Stock photo and digital media company Getty Images could be a potential short squeeze target as volume and price shot up over the last few trading days — however share price was relatively stable pre-market just below $6.

Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) - OPEC+ agreed to cut more than 1 million barrels per day to extend through the end of 2023 sending Brent crude and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures higher. Oil and related stocks reacted and jumped pre-market.

 

C3.AI (AI) - C3, an artificial intelligence company, has been on a wild ride with the generative AI trend launching the stock's price up over 200% in the past three months — but still remains far from its original $100 IPO share price from 2020.

 

Acuity Brands (AYI) - The major lighting company will be reporting earnings on Tuesday pre-market — William Blair analyst Ryan Merkel stated "Acuity should meet Street EPS [estimates] for the fiscal second quarter as lighting activity moderated in line with expectations," while maintaining the equivalent of a Hold rating.

 

Nikola (NKLA) - After announcing it would sell shares to raise $100 million last Thursday, the electric truck maker's stock plummeted through the end of the week. Shares were relatively stable Monday morning.

 

Synopsys (SNPS) - Semiconductor design and software company Synopsys garnered headlines for announcing a suite of AI-based tools for semiconductor chip design with high-powered early users — share price has seen relatively consistent growth over the last 5 years with currently optimistic analyst coverage.

Levi Strauss (LEVI) - The maker of apparel, including the company's iconic jeans. Levi Strauss will report quarterly results on Thursday after market close.

 

Phio Pharmaceuticals (PHIO) - The company is expected to release Phase 1 trial results from its melanoma drug candidate by this weekend.

Tesla (TSLA) - The company is expected to release first-quarter delivery data over this upcoming weekend. An analyst at Wedbush sees Tesla reporting deliveries around 420,000 units for the quarter.

 

lululemon athletica (LULU) - Shares were up about 17% during Wednesday's pre-market session following "very solid" quarterly results, according to an analyst at Oppenheimer. Other analysts were very optimistic on lululemon following the earnings. A Morgan Stanley analyst noted lululemon outperformed on the three main investor concerns heading into the results: inventory levels, gross margin and full-year guidance.

 

Snap (SNAP) - Investors in Snap have already priced in aggressive assumptions for TikTok time captured by Snapchat in the event of a US TikTok ban, according to a Morgan Stanley analyst. The analyst thought the most compelling idea to capture the TikTok ban theme was Meta Platforms (META).

 

Costco Wholesale (COST) - The company will report March sales results next week, on Wednesday, April 5.

 

US Gold (USAU) - The stock has rallied about 30% over the last few trading sessions. Shares were mentioned as a "worth watching" stock in Benzinga Pro's lounge chat Wednesday morning. US Gold is a nano-cap company in the gold exploration and development space; it's stock is in low-float territory with about 7 million shares in its float.

First Citizens Bancshares (FCNCA) - First Citizens will purchase substantially all of the loans and other assets of Silicon Valley Bank. Specific terms of the deal by First Citizens were not disclosed. Shares of First Citizens were up nearly 30% on the news.

 

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) - Analysts at William Blair made a bearish call on Palantir Monday morning. The firm noted two news items last week which showed evidence of the US Air Force's Space Systems Command unit splitting its contract exposure among more contractors than just Palantir. "...there is risk that Palantir’s premium 8.5-times sales multiple will compress as competition pressures revenue growth and profitability," according to one William Blair analyst.

 

Activision Blizzard (ATVI) - Initial reviews following the two-weekend beta period for Blizzard's new game, Diablo 4, have been largely positive. Given the favorable reviews, analysts at Oppenheimer said "We see upside to our current estimates from Blizzard's potential to bring players new to Diablo franchise to D4."

 

 Seagate Technology (STX) - A play on weaker pricing within the memory chip space. Seagate and Western Digital (WDC) peer, Micron Technology (MU) will be the first memory company to report this week, on Tuesday. Analysts at Raymond James Monday morning cut estimates on Micron sales and gross margins amid the weaker pricing concerns.

 

 Blade Air Mobility (BLDE) - A play on the air mobility space. Jefferies will host its electric vehicle take-off landing conference this week; Blade Air Mobility will be presenting from the event on Tuesday at 11 a.m. EDT. Company execs could give guidance or updates on the company's business.

📉 Citigroup (C) - The US big bank with its shares down the most amid the concerns with Deutsche Bank (DB). A report early Friday morning suggested the cost of insuring Deutsche Bank from a default suddenly spiked. Citi shares were down about 2%; Deutsche Bank shares were down about 8%.

 

🏦 iShares MSCI Europe Financials ETF (EUFN) - An exchange-traded fund (ETF) to gain exposure to Eurobanks. The ETF sees some good volume each trading day, an average of over 1 million shares traded.

 

🛋️ RH (RH ) - A play on upcoming earnings out of this luxury home goods retailer. RH will report quarterly results on Wednesday after market close.

 

🏦 Jefferies (JEF) - Despite concerns with the global banking industry over the last several weeks, analysts at Oppenheimer on Friday were optimistic on Jefferies. The analysts highlighted Jefferies as a standout in the investment banking and financial services industry.
