    Thursday, June 24, 2021 - OTR Westerns
    Gunsmoke - "Overland Express"
A stranger named Joe Beaudry killed a man in Dodge and then got on his horse and rode 90 miles to the Northwest. He made it across the Smokey Hill River before his horse played out and fell behind a small knoll. Beaudry put a knife in him and then settled down to wait.
Half an hour later he shot Matt's horse out from under him and crippled Chester's. Then he threw his gun down, put his hands in the air and gave up. Now they were three men, 90 miles from Dodge City, with no horses.
Before they make it back to Dodge, however, they will learn much more about the character of their prisoner.
Featuring: William Conrad, Parley Baer, Lawrence Dobkin, Lou Krugman, Vic Perrin, Junius Matthews, James Nusser, Ralph Moody

Best Old Time Radio Podcast with Bob Bro
    June 23, 2021 - OTR Mysteries
New Adventures of Nero Wolfe - "The Malevolent Medic"
When Hal Horton, rich industrialist, calls on Nero Wolfe it is because he believes Dr. Benjamin Sloane murdered his wife. Since her death Horton has learned that his wife and the doctor had one time been a couple.
When Wolfe sends Archie to investigate, the evidence points to three people with a possible motive to want Mrs. Banks dead: Doctor Sloane, his nurse and fiancee Grace Banks, and Mister Horton himself.
Pretty good story. Note how many politically incorrect things (some that are even illegal) that Archie gets away with as he gathers the evidence.
Featuring: Sydney Greenstreet, Harry Bartell, Jean Bates, Vic Perrin, Bruce Payne, Bill Johnstone, Mary Lansing
Original Air Date: February 3, 1951

The Whistler - "Custom Built Blonde"
Jerry Coonan is a small time hustler. His latest plan is to pick up a wealthy woman in a lounge, drive with her to an isolated area and have his two pals, Red Stafford and Shorty Burton, pull the car over and rob the woman of her fur coat, diamond pendant and other jewelry.
Jerry chuckled to himself; his blond companion was both rich and dumb. The diamond necklace around her neck should fetch $10,000, the emerald on her hand another $5,000 -- and then there was that mink coat.
The swindlers, however, were not aware that their mark always carried a gun. What a surprise when she pulled it out and started shooting.
    Featuring: William Conrad, Jack Moyles

The Edgar Bergen & Charlie McCarthy Show - Guest: W.C. Fields
One of the great all-time comedy pairings during the golden days of radio was that of Charlie McCarthy and W.C. Fields. Appearing in dozens of radio skits for a decade, and even starring together in a motion picture, the barbs they would throw back and forth constituted priceless comedic lore.
In this episode W.C. Fields has moved to a sanitarium and Edgar and Charlie come for a visit. The rest is just sheer comedy genius as the two exchange insults at a mile-a-minute. Enjoy!
Featuring: Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer Snerd, W.C. Fields, Verna Felton, Ken Carpenter
Original Air Date: March 24, 1946 on NBC
