  • The Best Supporting Aftershow - Coffee Talk
This week we are taking a break from awards show chatter and simply gabbing about whatever comes to mind! We cover lower back pain, yoga, body image, coffee culture, and much more! In our BSA of the Week segment, Nick swoons over his new coffee warmer, provides a new podcast recommendation, and tells us all to watch Good Girls. Colin provides a caffeine alternative and unapologetically declares his continued love and support for Jersey Shore.

  • Episode 74: The BSA's of "Rachel Getting Married" (2008)
"Rachel Getting Married" is undeniable proof that Anne Hathaway is a good, if not great, actress, in a role that deservedly earned her an Oscar nomination. She also happens to be surrounded by an incredible cast of supporting players, in roles ranging from Rosemarie Dewitt's titular Rachel to Roslyn Ruff as Kym's rehab nurse Rosa. We have much to say about Debra Winger's rasp and eventual roar as Abby and probably spend more time queening out on Anna Deveare Smith as stepmom Carol than she even appears in the movie. We could do with less jazz appreciation and frankly more Carol, but this may just be one of our favorite movies.

  • Episode 73: Yuh-jung Youn - "Minari" (2020)
Between Yuh-jung Youn in "Minari" and Glenn in "Hillbilly Elegy," we're getting so much Big Grandma Energy this Oscar season. While "Minari" and its male stars Steven Yuen and Alan S. Kim are getting lots of recognition, to say nothing of Youn's much-deserved nomination, we have equal praise for Yeri Han as Monica. We also find some surprising similarities to "Little Miss Sunshine," queen out on the multiple brief but powerful face journeys in this movie, swoon over the score, and break down the best bits of that rooftop parking lot scene before Nick makes a shocking revelation about his feelings on a certain nominee this year who shall not be named...

  • The Best Supporting Aftershow - BAFTA and Oscar Nominations
The BAFTA and Oscar nominations are out and we are simply overjoyed. History is being made and we are here to discuss the snubs, concerns, and overall excitement in what is sure to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable awards seasons ever! In our BSA of the Week segment Nick sings the praises of North Carolina french fries and some extra special Grammy performances while Colin is still reeling from the show-stopping performance of (Sir) Anthony Hopkins in The Father.

  • Episode 72: Olivia Colman - "The Father" (2020)
Equal parts disorienting and heartbreaking, "The Father" takes a familiar narrative of caring for an aging parent and turns it into a firsthand experience of dementia. Olivia Colman proves there is no limit to the power of her frown, giving an economical and brilliant performance as the put-upon Anne. But Anthony Hopkins totally runs away with this movie, and any other year would take every award with him, in what may be one of the best male performances either of us have ever seen. Imogen Poots, Olivia Williams, Rufus Sewell and Mark Gatiss shine in supporting roles, Florian Zeller deserves so much praise as both the original playwright and the film's director, and we can't help but imagine the actresses who would take on the alternate reality role of "The Mother."

  • The Best Supporting Aftershow - The Critics Choice Awards & Nomadland
This week on the Best Supporting Aftershow we are discussing the winners of the Critics Choice Awards and celebrate the quiet perfection of Nomadland. Nick is beside himself with the wonderful bevy of his past BSA's of the week that have made it onto the list of nominees in the TV categories. Both hosts are more confused than ever with a fresh batch of women taking the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories. Finally, in our BSA of the Week segment we discuss the interview heard round the world and celebrate the departure of Piers Morgan.

  • Episode 71: Ten Underappreciated Female Performances
In honor of International Women's Day earlier this week, we're discussing 10+ female performances in film and TV that we feel are due more recognition. We cover everything from moms to zombie hunters, from as far as India to the very middle of America. We queen out on running acting, brainstorm a new trivia game and try to convince each other to watch all of the performances on each of our lists.

  • The Best Supporting Aftershow : The Golden Globes
On this week's episode of The Best Supporting Aftershow we are talking about the Golden Globes! We discuss the surprise wins, Tracy Morgan's beautiful SAOUL, and how much we loathed the forced awkward celebrity Zoom small talk. In our BSA of the Week segment Colin gives his official reviews of The Undoing and The Flight Attendant and Nick raves about a new straw, Bobby and Giada, and a newfound obsession with The Drew Barrymore show. Happy Birthday Tommy Tune!

  • Episode 70: Dianne Wiest - "I Care a Lot" (2020)
We can't say that "I Care a Lot" is a necessarily fun movie--if you're looking for escapism in lockdown, this isn't it--but it does feature a fully committed Rosamund Pike as Marla and of course, The Wiest as Jennifer Peterson, Marla's newest victim turned adversary. We also get some nuanced eye candy from Chris Messina, some great music, a fabulous potential Halloween costume, and a companion episode of "I Like to Watch" with Trixie and Katya that's a way more enjoyable experience of this movie. We end the episode with some general appreciation of Dianne and reminiscing about our #FirstWiest.
