In our BSA of the Week segment, Colin recommends the classic Pittsburgh documentary "Kennywood Memories," and recommends some Film Noir stand outs from his IMDB watch list. Nick recommends the Movies That Made Us Gay podcast, 'Do the Work' by Steven Pressfield, and reveals that he finally pressed play on HBO's Hacks

  • Episode 84: The BSA's of "The Flight Attendant" (2020)
Buckle up for a non-stop flight full of first class acting--how's that for a punny review of "The Flight Attendant"? But it really is a great show. Kaley Cuoco more than earns her odds of winning an Emmy, especially now that Catherine O'Hara is out of the category, and she's surrounded by a stellar cast that includes Rosie Perez, Zosia Mamet, TR Knight and the divine Michelle Gomez. We count down our five favorite supporting players of the series, some of their best acting moments, where the show lost the flight plan a little for us, and where we hope the show is headed in Season 2.

  • The Best Supporting Aftershow : Just Press Play - 2021 Emmy Predictions
This week on the Best Supporting Aftershow we make some early predictions and discuss the upcoming 2021 Emmy awards this September. Kate vs. Michaela. Is this Kathryn Hahn and Kaley Cuoco's year? Should we start watching Ted Lasso?
In our BSA of the week segment, Nick is once again grateful for his AC and for the upcoming arrival for one of our favorite BSAs. Colin teases us with two upcoming Ann Dowd projects that involve grief and family tension in addition to some Sleepy time bliss courtesy of a 1993 YouTube Series.

  • Episode 83: Best Supporting Lori - "Mare of Easttown" (2021)
From its regional accuracy to its wall to wall actressing, "Mare of Easttown" is right up our turnpikes as actressexuals from the Northeast. It goes without saying that Kate Winslet is basically royalty and her performance as Mare Sheehan is likely career best work so far. Julianne Nicholson and Jean Smart are duking it out for BSA, but Nicholson's car and kitchen floor acting in the last episode are series highlights. We also have much to say about Easttown itself and our feelings on community, the nuances of portraying middle class people and the merits of being the unofficial mayor of your hometown.

  • Episode 82: Jessica Hecht - "Special" (S2 Ep 4 - "Death By a Thousand Cold Cuts")
"Special" is, well, a special show--a surprisingly honest and nuanced story about disability, sex, dating, and most importantly, the relationship between a gay man and his mother. While Ryan O'Connell is the mastermind of the show, Jessica Hecht's brilliant performance as his mother Karen is at the heart of it. This week we dive into the fourth episode of the second season to discuss one of our favorite topics, navigating grief, plus our own feelings as 30-something creatives who don't have Netflix shows, some love for Lauren Weedman both as Tanya and as Doris in "Looking," and a call for more single take shots of women looking at themselves in a mirror on the day of a funeral, preferably while eating candy or doing their makeup.

  • Episode 81: Pop Culture Buffet
This week, we discuss both pop culture and buffets, but the episode itself is also a buffet of movies, trailers, podcasts and performances that are on our gay agendas to discuss. We're covering the Dear Evan Hansen and Cruella trailers, hot takes on the woeful Woman in the Window, long overdue love for Brittany Runs a Marathon, a reunion of Friends, some Lillian Gish appreciation, Knives Out 2 casting, and some spoiler-free love for Kate Winslet, Julianne Nicholson and Jean Smart in Mare of Easttown. But mostly, we talk about buffets.

  • The Best Supporting Aftershow - Close, but no Oscar
This week on the Best Supporting Aftershow it's Nick's turn to stump Colin in a game we like to call "Close, but no Oscar," highlighting the career of Glenn Close. In our BSA of the week segment, Nick raves about a life changing burger and just can't get enough of the Sunday Pancakes podcast featuring recent guest, Karen Olivo. Colin treats himself to a bit of self care in the form of a Snickers and tests the waters on the newest Jean Smart vehicle courtesy of HBO Max.

  • Episode 80: Best Supporting Marge - The Simpsons: "Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield"
Marge Simpson buys a deeply discounted Chanel suit and her whole life starts to change, but is it for the better? This formative episode of "The Simpsons" is one of the best Marge stories of the series and gives us Best Supporting Lisa, plus Springfield's own Mean Girls, very little Bart, and even a journey into Patti and Selma's wardrobe. We tangent down memory lane more than once this week, queening out on 90's commercials for kids, the fantasy of looking rich, the wonder of chocolate chip pancakes and hanging out with our moms.
