    * Being able to be your full self
    * Helping people through their insecurities
    * Throw ‘should’ out the window

Being able to be your full self
I find that to be so core, to be your full self is the way forward. If we had that in the world, even 5% more, we’d be in a crazy better place and so I really wish that for all the people I know: to be comfortable in your own skin, to love yourself first and to be able to have that confidence which then enables you to serve. It is very hard to serve if you are worried about yourself. (Molly Tschang)
We all have insecurities at times and move through spaces in our lives where we feel better or worse, but there comes a point in our journey towards ourselves where we know – regardless of unpredictable life – that we are going to be okay.
    Helping people through their insecurities
If you’re not leaning into some kinds of discomfort, discomfort is a sign of growth and we’re not trying to make it super painful but I do encourage that for folks and the curiosity, not the judging, the curiosity to say ‘hey, what’s out there, what could be better?’ (Molly Tschang)
When something painful comes up, it is very easy to point the finger and place the blame of the discomfort on someone or something else. Molly offers that when you find yourself doing this, change the focus from them onto you and see what is going on for you in this situation.
Be curious and don’t judge yourself because self-awareness is a key attribute among some of the world’s most successful people, and it is especially amplified when it is connected to self-compassion.
It takes courage to go into that space of looking at yourself in these tough situations. Some people will set themselves free and other people will hold onto the tension.
Please be your best friend and not your worst enemy … you can choose to traumatize yourself, totally your call, I would just ask [you] to ask yourself: ‘would you ...

    * Building confidence
    * How to properly approach women
    * Who pays for the date?
    * Some common insecurities

    Building confidence
I do believe that confidence – and the reason why anyone becomes confident – is because they become competent in something, so confidence comes from competence. In order to become confident with women, it’s like getting confident with anything else that we do … the more you go out and talk to them, converse with them [the easier it gets] …. And guys don’t do that because its very hard [initially]. (Trip Kramer)
When you first start talking to women and getting used to the discomfort of doing something new that you are not used to, some men feel intimidated and judged by other men who are more comfortable than they are in that situation.
Tripp coaches men to become used to rejection, and learn to overcome the fear of rejection, not in the way that they then become complacent, but that they do not let it stop them from continuing to speak to women and grow their confidence.
When men become more confident in the things they do, they become more confident with themselves.
    How to properly approach women

    * Do not rely on something external: Avoid drinking and drugs to give you that momentary confidence boost, no matter how helpful it may be because it is not sustainable and can turn into a bad habit of needing to have a drink in your hand just to speak to a woman.
    * Tripp takes his clients through a system of desensitization, which is essentially practicing something over and over again until you are no longer afraid of it.

    Who pays for the date?
In Tripp’s opinion, it is a question of decency, and who set up the date. If the man asks the woman out, he should pay. If a few dates down the line the woman asks the man out on a date, she should pay.
There is also an element of attractiveness when someone is able to pay the bill, whether they are male or female because it shows success and a type of caring-dominance.
In Tripp’s experience and opinion though, on the first date, the man should pay.

  • The NakedPastor | Episode 48
How does a pastor deconstruct their faith, are you on a path of deconstruction too? If God is what we think He is, is there, maybe, something that is beyond our idea of God? Is the God we believe in perhaps a reflection of who we are more than a separate entity to ourselves?
In this podcast episode, Billy and Brandy Eldridge speak with David Hayward aka NakedPastor.
Meet David Hayward aka the NakedPastor

After 30 years in the church, he left the ministry to pursue his passion for art. NakedPastor uses words and images to challenge the status quo, deconstruct dogma, and offer hope for those who struggle and suffer under it.
David is no stranger to belief systems – he holds a Masters in Theological Studies, as well as Diplomas in Religious Studies and Ministry, and University Teaching. His art expresses the stories and struggles of spiritual refugees and independent thinkers who question, doubt, or oppose the confines of religion. Each piece encourages difficult conversations and acts as a catalyst for critical thinking.
He is an artist and writer who supports LGBTQ+ people and groups, BIPOC and women artists, creatives, journalists, and more, and encourages others to do the same.

    * Why the NakedPastor?
    * Be aware that abuse can happen anywhere, even in church
    * We pick our own Gods

    Why the NakedPastor?
For David, the NakedPastor, the title was won in an auction that he was not even aware of being a part of, but it developed into a title that he uses in order to portray real, raw honesty for him behind the role of pastor.
Not only to share the victories and the growth but to also share the struggles, doubts, and conflicts in his blog with his followers, sharing brutal and sincere honesty behind the role of being a pastor while being fully clothed.
Be aware that abuse can happen anywhere, even in church
I say the church is the perfect culture for abuse to occur and you have to work against it, pastors and leaders and churches have to work and they have to be diligent 100% of the time because the gravitational pull towards communities is towards the dehumanization of its members. (David Hayward aka NakedPastor)
With spiritual abuse, there is no evidence of it, because it is all a strange feeling of questioning and doubting yourself, feeling the need to submit and putting your needs aside or it can be an unquestionable adoration of a leader: these are all examples of spiritual abuse in David’s experience.
For Billy, his faith was only based on what he had been taught and told and nothing more. As an adult, the cognitive dissonance began to set in where he saw the inconsistencies but did not feel he had the space to question them, and so began his suffering.
[It was like] if you open your mind up too much your brain might fall out, why did they have to keep us from things? Why did they have to control us? It was more about fear and coercion, it wasn’t about being consecrated into something beautiful and free, we were being shackled. (Billy Eldridge)
    We pick our own Gods
We pick and choose to believe in the type of God that we feel worthy of following. Some people who are vengeful, hateful, and deeply dislike themselves may believe that God is punishing them or wants the...

    The grieving
You were at home in bed grieving, not having words and not knowing how to act but just putting one foot in front of the other and it’s like we were walking in quicksand. It was like time had slowed down and it was hard to move, it was hard to breathe, it was hard to see a future that was good. (Billy Eldridge)
Both Billy and Brandy had to grieve in their own ways, then together, and then as a family. They did have a community that supported them through where they could receive support, walking together where they could with others, before having to walk the rest by themselves.
I think that that community that we had, whether they understood what we were going through or not, they saw us hurting and I will be forever grateful for the people that did that. (Brandy Eldridge)
Over time, many of Brandy’s friends came forward with stories of miscarriages or stillbirths that they had experienced.
And I’m like I didn’t know all of this because there’s this secret community of women that suck it up. There’s this group of really strong women that don’t want to share their emotions because people don’t like talking about things that are sad, me included. (Brandy Eldridge)
    The first steps of questioning
The immense intensity of the grief that Brandy went through made her begin to question her faith. Her relationship with God changed, and she still works through it, evolving it to suit her authentically and not simply accepting what everyone around her takes for granted.
These first steps of questioning the norm led Brandy and Billy to truly deepen their faith by reconstructing it and finding out what it truly meant to them, and not what it meant to be seen by others in that way around them.
    Coming out the other side
All that to say, there is hope and there is reconstruction, and our story is different and everyone’s story looks different but everyone’s story is just as important to how we shape ourselves and the people we become. Through grief and through suffering there is growth and also beauty in the midst of darkness and in the midst of where things that won’t grow, life will grow. (Brandy Eldridge)

    * What does it mean to be a part of the Eldridge family?
    * Simp vs Pimp and why we don’t like it

What does it mean to be a part of the Eldridge family?
According to Poppy Kate (5), and Liam (10), being part of the Eldridge family means living by and upholding the principles of kindness and respect, both to one another and to people that they encounter.
Sometimes we argue and we can definitely do a better job at that.
Simp vs Pimp and why we don’t like it
Liam and Hava discuss the difference between Simps and Pimps with us, although with emphasis on a simp which is someone, usually a boy, who is kind towards someone he likes but is shunned for it by other boys, who think that being kind equates to being weak.
This of course is the very philosophy that the Beta Male Revolution works to dismantle. It is not unmanly or emasculating to be in touch with your emotions and kind to people and that, in fact, in order to be a proper, kind, strong, and good man, you should be able to feel and work through your emotions without pushing them away.

  • Disrupt and Recover in Arizona | Episode 45
In a tight spot, do you give up before the miracle happens? What happens if you hang on just a little bit longer? What happens between disruption and equilibrium?
In this podcast episode, Billy and Brandy Eldridge speak about disrupting and recovering in Arizona.
    In This Podcast
    Summary

    * How disruption can bring up some ugly
    * High expectations

As our friend Joe Sanok has shown us sometimes you need to leave to find. We struck out and headed to Arizona to rest and relax only to be reminded we have deeper issues that have been hidden. There were untold parts of our soul longing for articulation. These words fought to find themselves through arguments and unmet expectations. Much how the fog of the Grand Canyon eventually lifted to reveal its beauty the heaviness we had been carrying let go of us when we spoke about the hard things. It brought us unwilling and defiant back to humility and gratitude. Thank you, Arizona.
How disruption can bring up some ugly
In a daily routine with someone, life can get so busy and into a certain rhythm that if and when stuff comes up to deal with, the quickest way to get it over with is it stuff it down until later.
Then, when later comes in the form of a break from routine, all these issues come up to the surface again asking for attention.
Spending time away from your daily routine with your partner is a valuable space for you to reconnect and smooth out these disagreements, as well as to remember your partner and be with your partner outside of the context of a daily homebound routine.
Don’t quit before the miracle happens … don’t give up because your miracle just might be right around the corner. (Billy Eldridge)
    High expectations
We can become caught up in the day-to-day and slowly compile these high expectations on our partners because we get so wrapped up in everything, we no longer see them as individuals but as another to-do on the list.
Spending time with your partner to clear the fog between you and reconnect with the person they are underneath the daily grind and underneath the compounding expectations will have you realize that they are just a person as you are.

  • Charles Burks: Journey to the NFL | Episode 44

What does it mean to really coach someone and be a true leader? How does one overcome institutionalized disadvantages in your journey? What will it take to surpass them?
In this podcast episode, Billy and Brandy Eldridge speak with Charles Burks about his journey to the NFL.
    Meet Charles Burks

Charles Burks is the defensive coaching assistant for the Miami Dolphins. A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, Burks earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2010, followed by his Masters’s in sports administration in 2011.
Burks also completed an internship with the Detroit Lions during the summer of 2012, working closely with current Rams Defensive Coordinator Tim Walton and Defensive Backs coach Marcus Robertson.

    Summary

    * Coaching with real constructive criticism
    * Journey to the NFL and racism

    Coaching with real constructive criticism
Charles Burks found that coaching in the way he thought one was supposed to coach did more damage than good, therefore he changed his method of coaching to uplift his players instead of tearing them down.
If you take constructive criticism, the first concept and wording is constructive, that means you build and I think as coaches if you’re not building you’re not coaching. (Charles Burks)
In this way, if a mistake or issue arises, they work through it for what it is instead of getting wrapped up in it. We can therefore build people up around us with this philosophy, instead of thinking we have to first tear them down.
If you’re trying to blow somebody else’s candle out to make yours shine brighter, you’re not going to live a peaceful life. I think you’re making it about you but as a coach and as a leader you should make it about them and that will in turn empower you. (Charles Burks)
Real leaders are the ones that empower the people around them because it is not about having the biggest and best ego, it is about developing people to be their best whole selves.
Journey to the NFL and racism
Early on in my coaching career my biggest hurdle was working in an environment where the majority of [my] coworkers were middle to late-aged white men and they treated [me] as a black coach rather than a coach. (Charles Burks)
The early days of Charles’ career and journey to the NFL were filled with difficult racially charged moments that he said he just had to stomach in order to get through.
Such acts of racism, from joking remarks to seeing triggering flags every day are all signs that humanity has not moved that much forward from the past. These signs are present in all aspects, from politics to sports and so players and coaches have to have their guard up on two fronts at all times.
As a society, local and global, it is our duty to one another and to our neighbors that we self-evaluate, self-actualize, and practice accountability and compassion. It is not enough to be kind because kindness is not an excuse for bad behavior.
Achieving authentic unity is possible with a global effort and it would ricochet around the world.

  • Lindsay Blount: A Family Secret and Finding Her Identity | Episode 43
Is your identity based on your history or based on your choices? What does it take to undergo a massive shift and then come back to yourself? What power resides in stillness?
In this podcast episode, Billy and Brandy Eldridge speak with Lindsay Blount about her family secret and finding her identity.
    Meet Lindsay Blount

Lindsay Blount has a lot of labels: she’s a wife, a mom, a doctoral student, an assistant to a Dean, a writer, and a photographer. Recently, she had her identity completely uprooted when she took a 23andMe DNA test during the pandemic and found out some shocking news.
In the last year, Lindsay has taken a deep dive into identity and its meaning down to the root. She challenges everyone to consider identity as something that is not a fixed part of your being, rather it is something you can learn and relearn.
Lindsay is currently writing her first book on identity shake-ups and she hopes her story will inspire everyone to rip out the roots of their own identity and start creating a more true and authentic one.

    Summary

    * You are real
    * Sit in the stillness
    * Find joy outside of yourself

    You are real
Everyone at some point in their lives will have a moment that shifts their world. When that time comes and you are suspended in the change before finding reality, remember to tell yourself “I am real”. In any major identity shift or change, your baseline remains the same; you are real.
No matter the change, betrayal, or knowledge that might try to disprove you, remember that where you sit and stand you are a whole person already and nothing can take that fact away from you.
    Sit in the stillness
When we are faced with immense change and a shift in identity the first thing we do is run and distract ourselves. Instead, when we sit in the stillness of the storm, we are able to actually process the evolution and take it onboard instead of pushing it away simply because it may hurt.
I definitely was forced into stillness and it probably accelerated my growth because I was, because I had to sit with it and listen to a lot of Taylor Swift and Glennon Doyle. I’m grateful for it now, I’m grateful that I pushed through all of that. (Lindsay Blount)
    Find joy outside of yourself
With any shift that draws you into its unyielding orbit, find joy outside of its pull. Do or try something completely new and different in order to reclaim yourself and prove to yourself that you are capable of surviving change and coming out the other side, stronger and changed for the better.
Had it not been for this massive identity shift for me to try get outside of myself and create a new identity I would never have found photography. (Lindsay Blount)
Chasing joy in a childlike way reconnects us to our inner own child, and it does take some healing to reach this place with authenticity, however, once we do, it is a way for us to reclaim our personage.

  • Ken Clark Leads One of the Fastest Growing Companies in the United States | Episode 42
How can relinquishing control and entrusting people’s journey unto themselves, help you retain staff? What is the mark of a true mentor? What does openness have to do with anxiety and fear?
In this podcast episode, Billy and Brandy Eldridge speak with Ken Clark about leading one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States.

    Summary

    * Having the freedom to leave
    * Markers for when people are going in the right or wrong direction

    Having the freedom to leave
Because we’ve made it a safe place, it’s where people want to be. That freedom to leave and not be punished or harassed or told you can’t take your clients is why people want to be here and it’s why people don’t leave here. I’ve found that that openness, that lack of control, that relinquishing of people’s journeys to themselves and not treating them as extensions of myself, that is what has propelled our business. (Ken Clark)
As a business owner, Ken has found that by treating the employees at his practice with respect and humility and by making it easy for them to work in the way that best suits them, even if that means leaving at some point, paradoxically makes them want to stay for longer because they know that Ken respects them.
In an environment where competition is kept to a minimum, where the workplace is not toxic, and where employees are able to work with the clients that they would want to work with, they have the room and autonomy to think about their own lives as well as their jobs.
In Ken’s experience, employee freedom and safety breed low-level discontent because they are not in a hyperaware state due to some intense workplace friction.
In the same way, if you do a good job at training them and encourage them to pursue the development of their expertise, they will leave because in a safe place they can consider what their happiness looks like instead of focusing on just surviving day-to-day.
Markers for when people are going in the right or wrong direction
In Ken’s opinion, openness is the noblest human state.
If somebody is open … it doesn’t matter what their worldview is, doesn’t matter what their religious background is, if they’re open they’ll process through it and come to new realizations. The opposite of openness categorically is fear. (Ken Clark)
Openness is a skill. When you lean into openness it equates to leaning into all different kinds of possibilities around a certain situation, and the opposite of that is fear, when people are willfully ignorant, thinking they know everything there is to know about situations or relationships and general life skills.
That willful ignorance in Ken’s experience is a sign that there is work to be done.

Most people consider trauma as the “big T”. These are traumas that come from car accidents, sexual assault, combat trauma and they manifest in isolation, sleeplessness, and so forth. These are important to identify and address in order to maintain peace in your life.
Although there is also the “little T” trauma that most people are not aware of, they are no less important and necessary to work through. These could be things such as childhood abuse and difficult childhood experiences because these, when unresolved, can still trigger people right through their adulthood.
Why do people need to address trauma?
Putting aside and ignoring trauma was a pattern of past generations, but living with unresolved generational trauma can inhibit you from fully flourishing and succeeding in your life.
If you’re not connecting with people because as a kid you were taught, maybe not explicitly but through the actions of others, that talking about your emotions and feelings and expressing those things is not a safe place then why in the world are you going to find that to be a safe place as an adult? (Eric Strom)
By not addressing trauma, they can manifest themselves in your relationships and inhibit you from forming truer, deeper bonds with people out of a fear of the trauma you experienced.
