Genesis 12 – 23
Verse of the Week: “The Lord kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what He had promised.” Genesis 21:1
1. Embrace the season you are in.
“Sarai was barren; she had no child.” Genesis 11:30
2. Waiting patiently is an act of faith.
“I will make you a great nation” Genesis 12:2
“the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her.” Genesis 16:2
3. God’s plan is greater than your ability.
“Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing.” Genesis 18:11
‘“Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14
“God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we are able to ask or think” Ephesians 3:20
“I will bless Sarah, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will
come from her.” Genesis 17:16
4. God’s timing is often different than ours
“will Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?” Genesis 17:17
“Sarah laughed within herself” Genesis 18:12
“The Lord kept His word and did for Sarah exactly what He had promised. Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.” Gen. 21:1 & 2
5. God desires to give you a fresh start.
“As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.” Genesis 17:15
