1. God uses suffering to redirect us.
“Sometimes painful experiences make us change our ways.” Proverbs 20:30

2. God uses suffering to realign us.

Fear the Lord

1. A good friend shows up
“when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come
upon Job, they came each one from his own place.” Job 2:11
“A friend loves at all times” Proverbs 17:17
2. A good friend will empathize with you.
“When the friends recognized Job, they began to weep and wail,
tearing their clothes in grief and throwing dust into the air and on their
heads.” Job 2:12
“Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who
weep.” Romans 12:15
“You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded
each one in your book.” Psalm 56:8

3. A good friend listens
“Listen to what I am saying; that is all the comfort I ask from you.”

1. Hell’s strategy is to crush your joy
“Now there was a day” Job 1:13
“we are not ignorant of satan’s plans.” 2 Corinthians 2:11
“the joy of the Lord is our strength” Nehemiah 8:10
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy” John 10:10
“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27

2. Heaven’s blueprint: grow through what you go through
“blameless, upright, fearing God, and shunning from evil.” Job 1:1
“Make no provision for the flesh to gratify its desires” Romans 13:14
“Flee the evil desires…and pursue righteousness” 2 Timothy 2:22
“I have not seen the righteous forsaken, or His descendants begging for bread” Psalm 37:25

3. God has the final word

1. The Spirit will convict us
“when the Holy Spirit has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of
righteousness, and of judgment” John 16:8
“you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which has eyes to see
but does not see, and ears to hear but does not hear” Ezekiel 12:2
“Happy is the person whom God corrects! Do not resent it when He
rebukes you.”

2. The Spirit will develop Christ-likeness in us.
“the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” Gal. 5:22 & 23
3. The Spirit will empower you to live victoriously
“you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do
….if by the power of the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of
your sinful nature, you will live.” Romans 8:12 & 13
“do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its sinful
desires.” Romans 6:12
“sin shall not be master over you” Romans 6:14
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee
from you.” James 4:7
“reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ

1. The diversity of oneness
“that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You” John 17:21

2. The purpose of oneness
“Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]” John 17:17 AMP
To know Christ
“though the world does not know You, I know You” John 17:25
“My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” Philippians 3:10
“I count everything as loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3:8
To make Christ known
“I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known” John 17:26
“Just as You commissioned and sent Me into the world, I also have commissioned and sent them into the world.” John 17:18
“I pray that they may be united with Us so that the world will believe that You have sent Me.” John 17:21

3. The power of oneness
