1. Every life matters to God

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they

2. Let’s allow God to do a heart check Matthew 5:21 - 26

Honor is not just in our words, but in the posture of our heart.
1. Honoring our parents is a calling, not a suggestion.

If God took honor seriously, so should we.
2. Honor is worship to God.
Colossians 3:20
Worship at times is a sacrifice.
3. When we honor we flourish.
Ephesians 6:1-3
When we honor, regardless of circumstances, we will flourish.

2. Be salt and light
“You are the salt of the earth….You are the light of the world. A city

Verse of the Week: “Keep the sabbath day” Deuteronomy 5:12
1. Sabbath is not simply a rule. It’s a rhythm.
“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Exodus 20:8
“sabbath” – shabbat – to cease, to stop, to rest
“in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and
all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord
blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20:11
“holy” – qadash – to set apart, to declare sacred
We must be intentional.
“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” Hebrews 4:9
“be diligent to enter that rest” Hebrews 4:11

There is flexibility
“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27

2. Sabbath is not simply a reward. It must be our reality.
“On that day no one in your household may do any work. This
includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female
servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you.”
Exodus 20:10
I trust God to meet my needs
“God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He
rested from all His work” Genesis 2:3

1. Give the name the weight it deserves
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain”

“vain” – shav – empty, worthless, hollow
Casually
“Hallowed by Thy name” Matthew 6:9

Manipulatively
“LORD” – Yahweh

Magically
“I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message;
I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.” Jeremiah 23:21
“the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name that I have
not commanded him to speak…that same prophet shall die.”

Relationship needs to precede rules.
2. Don’t block God’s face
“You shall have no other gods before Me.” Exodus 20:3
Anything you fear, trust, love, or obey more than God is an
idol.
“you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.”

Live a life of commitment over convenience
“This is My Son, whom I love. Listen to Him!” Mark 9:7

The baptism of the Spirit is for every Christ-follower.
