Between 2 Butts: The Podcast That Lets Nothing Slip Between The Cracks episodes

  • Episode 24: Check Your Mongoose, People.

Nominating this episode as the one with our most seamless transitions yet, as we all are talkin' reptiles. Becca counts the ways she loves the 1993 version of Jurassic Park, during which it comes out that Jay sides with T-Rexes over 'raptors. Tice goes over other dinosaur media that came out in the wake of Jurassic Park, including the mostly wacky  Dinosaurs sitcom, and its dark, dark finale. Jay pivots to snakes, specifically cobras, as he talks about the animated film Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, based on the Rudyard Kipling novel. Jay hates Rikki-Tikki and loves the cobras, and Tice tries to connect the dots between that and his earlier T-Rex alliance...but will he be too distracted by Rikki-Tikki's mongoose boobies? Finally, we see be Tricera"tops" at Dino Trivia (which has got to be more of a challenge than winning at the Chef Boy-Ar-Dee Dinosaurs lunch game).

  • Episode 23: A Hole Lot

As we open a controversial, yet already dated episode of Between Two Butts, Jay has found a questionable toy that somehow made it to the Target shelves, and we try to figure out if the makers even attempted to make it resemble anything other than what it actually looks like. Includes discussion of bleaching. From there, the next logical turn for the convo to take is discussing the January 6 siege on the Capitol, and along with it, blocking and/or unfriending people on social media. Speaking of, you may want to block/unfriend us (at least for this episode) if you don't want to hear Cobra Kai spoilers, because Jay and Becca share their thoughts on Season 3. And finally, we circle back around to our opening topic as Becca and Tice try to answer a bunch of the poop riddles Jay got for Christmas. It's our last episode of the Trump era-- come wipe the slate clean with us!!

  • Episode 22: New Yea-uh, New Dea-uh

The spirit of Yuletide is on its way out but the Spirit of Ah-nold has settled in! The holidays are winding down and the false construct that is 2021 is upon us, so the gang talks about putting away decorations, Garry Marshall's cheesy New Year's Eve movie, and safe and socially distant gift exchanges. Jay somehow gave everyone poop, which at this point should be unsurprising. Becca reviews her New Year's Resolutions, Tice rejects resolution-making, and Jay declares his continued commitment to throat-punching. Jay then eagerly presents his latest YouTube favorite, "Commando: The Musical", sung entirely in Arnold's accent, so of course, we close out the episode with our own Arnold voices in a game of "Last Action Line".

So you can witness "Feeding the Dea-uh" for yourself, we present a link to Commando: The Musical!
And furthermore, here's an interview with the late but ever-delightful Garry Marshall about New Year's Eve, and Paul F. Tompkins as Garry on Comedy Bang Bang!

  • Episode 21: The Facebook, The Instagram, The Bee-Dee-Ess-Em.

Becca's cat Echo's presence is felt heavily in this episode, which is how we get started with animals in general being salty or invasive. Jay tells us about the Netflix true crime series "The Staircase", and gets us all hooked on imitating prosecuting attorney Freda Black, with her genteel Southern manner and prurient inquiries. Becca has thoughts about Broadway singer Idina Menzel and a few tips for preserving your voice, demos included. Tice, decked out in special holiday duds, talks about taking some uncertain steps into expressing his fashion sense, but the game gets hijacked by Freda Black as we all begin cross-examining one another in that certain judgemental Carolina way.

  • Episode 20: The Tilley Roller-Coaster & the Harney High-5

Lots going on as we open the pod. After Tice catches us everybody up on Hanukkah and Jay describes a socially-distant performance, Becca shocks when she reveals she doesn't like A Christmas Carol or A Christmas Story, and moreover, she GETS it! (She's very cool with White Christmas, though.) Jay keeps the emotions flowing when he sings the Grinch Song ("You're a Mean One..."), which makes Becca happy, but then shares a "douchey" Yuletide glamour shot (see image), which makes her definitely unhappy.  Tice tries to rein things in by discussing other Christmas TV movies and specials, but we somehow end up on Cindy Williams' departure from Laverne & Shirley. So, if you're tall enough to ride, strap yourself in for this roller-coaster episode of Between Two Butts!

  • Episode 19: State Your Intentions!

As we open Episode 19, Becca brings us the neighborhood gossip, and Jay and Tice, in turn,  introduce her to the NextDoor app. Jay wants to make it known that he considers it a breach of messaging etiquette, not to mention a waste of his valuable time, to message him without a clear objective, and Tice and Becca, in turn, rag on him about it. We give attention to other scourges of online socialization, like sales pitches from "friends" and pyramid scheme/sex cults. A mentally fatigued Tice tries to opt out of having a topic but Jay and Becca draw one out of him by complimenting his Waffle House coffee mug. And when it's Becca's turn, she shares her feelings about the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Then, for game time, we play one of our improv favorites, "Acronyms".  Skip this episode and you'll be SOL!

  • Episode 18: Merry Snip-mas, the Holiday Vasectomy Special!

Tice is back from his vasectomy (teased in last week's episode), and Jay and Becca are digging deep to find out what the surgery was like. And since he was awake for the entire procedure, Tice has answers; including what it's like to chat with the doctors while they were cutting his tubes, what he could see happening below his waist during the surgery, and facts he learned about his skin thickness! Fear not, though-- discussion moves beyond Tice's manly parts as our three so-far childless podcasters discuss pressure to reproduce. And then we get into Jingle Balls...uh, Bells... and other favorite and non-favorite Christmas music as Jay shares a lesser-known Mel Blanc cover. Moving on from there, we get into Hallmark Christmas movie tropes, after which we try to write one of our own in the game of Story Yay-Boo! Don't miss this Between Two Butts: it really cuts to the chase!

  • Episode 17: Forget that Nair sponsorship, w/ special guest Melissa York-Tilley

At long last, local theatre director and stage manager, and as often mentioned on the show, Jay's wife and B2B's creative consultant Melissa sits in for a full episode to read future children's classic "Brenda's Beaver Needs a Barber" for the rest of the gang. And it's really about a beaver! Really! Along with some glimpses at what makes the Melissa/Jay relationship tick, we get the origins of Melissa's theatre career, her unused college major, her favorite shows, and her dream shows (maybe).

Tice continues Game-Show-Vember with a look at a couple of contestants who beat the system on Press Your Luck and Price is Right, and an extended review of the stylish, witty, temperamental, kissy, and perhaps unexpectedly British host of Family Feud, Richard Dawson. The natural result of this is Becca and Melissa teaming up to see if they can defeat the Fast Money round of Family Feud with surveys Jay culled from the Internet. We can be the number-one answer to your entertainment needs, if you'll just let us: We're Between Two Butts!

  • Episode 16: What is a pornstache?

Our sweet 16th episode starts with vindictive cats, Tice not doing yoga, another Jay dream that includes everybody but Tice, and the question of how much to clean your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. And that´s only the intro!

In tribute to Alex Trebek, Tice decides to carry on with game-show-themed segments, thus establishing GameShowVember. We remember Alex Trebek, his many game shows and his many mustaches.

Becca keeps the mood nerdy with a rundown of her favorite and least favorite Fan Fiction tropes, including Mary Sues, One-Beds, Slow Burns, and Twin-cest.

Jay brings us back to Cool Town with an ode to A Capella, including sharing two songs he turns to when he needs a little self-reflection. Tice reaches a breaking point as the episode runs further and further over-time!

Finally, because Jay is thirsty for Yuletide cheer, we play a sexy-Christmas themed Would You Rather? Give us a listen: You´ll laugh so hard, you´ll get Krampus!

    Links for you!:

Alex Trebek´s response to decades of parodies.

A more challenging watch for some: A 1983 gameshow pilot where Trebek shared hosting duties with a little animated troll-man on a monitor. It was called Malcolm.

JL8, the tween superhero comic strip Jay mentions.
