Advent begins and this year we are in Year A in the Lectionary. As we reflect out of the readings from Reign of Christ Sunday and into this week's readings for the first Sunday of Advent, we get to talking about what we are waiting for, and what we should be doing while we are waiting. Which raises the question: Are we actually waiting? Join Mark B and Mark G as we kick off Season Two of Between 2 Sundays. (The readings for the First Sunday of Advent are: Isaiah 2:1-5 • Psalm 122 • Romans 13:11-14 • Matthew 24:36-44)

There’s a reason why “Christ the King” Sunday is now called “Reign of Christ” Sunday in many places. Is “King and Kingdom” type language the best way to continue to talk about God’s “Kingdom” when we’ve completely forgotten that God’s “Kingdom” is completely upside down in comparison to what “Kingdoms” and “Empires” are really about?! Join Mark B and Mark G as we chew through this week’s readings and get a better image of what this “Kingdom” and its “King” are really all about in this week’s Between 2 Sundays. (The readings for the Twenty-Fourth Sunday After Pentecost are: Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Luke 1:68-79 • Colossians 1:11-20 • Luke 23:33-43)

Is our view and understanding of Salvation too small? This week’s readings, while looking like they point to an event some time in the future, all actually point to a present reality – a place in which not only is God in the process of creating a new world for us, but with us. Only when we discover this and enter into that participation do we truly discover the life that we were created to live. Join Mark B and Mark G in an eye opening episode of Between 2 Sundays. (The readings for the Twenty-Third Sunday After Pentecost are: Isaiah 65:17-25 and Isaiah 12 • 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13 • Luke 21:5-19)

“I believe in…the communion of Saints…” But do we really? And what is our part to play in that community? And what is God’s? And are there just some things that we need to ensure don’t distract us from those things we need to do? In this special All Saint’s Sunday episode of Between 2 Sunday’s, Mark B and Mark G get lost and go deep in sthe amazing fact that we have been called to participate with God in God’s work in the world both now and in whatever is to come… (The readings for the Twenty-Second Sunday After Pentecost are: Haggai 1:15b-2:9 and Psalm 98 • 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17 • Luke 20:27-38)

We haven't arrived, we are only just beginning... After a great conversation about the importance of and how to read Scripture well (which by itself is worth the price of admission even if we are biased), Mark B and Mark G launch into the readings this week which, funny enough, are mostly about the nature of and how to read Scripture! In short - something is being planted in us; and the reality is that planting isn't a done thing, we have to grow. This being the case, Scripture should be an experience, and animating, a life-giving. We do ourselves a disservice if we think the conversation is locked down and closed. Join us for a thought provoking Between 2 Sundays. (The readings for the Nineteenth Sunday After Pentecost are: Jeremiah 31:27-34 and Psalm 119:97-104 • 2 Timothy3:14-4:5 • Luke 18:1-8)

What role does gratitude play? What is your gospel? What matters most? And what does it look like when we simply live where we are in the way God calls us to? Is that really enough?! Join Mark B and Mark G where these and a whole lot of other questions get dissected and, as always, find a way of coming around again in this week’s episode of Between 2 Sundays. (The readings for the Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost are: Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7 and Psalm 66:1-12 • 2 Timothy 2:8-15 • Luke 17:11-19)

The importance of blatant honesty in our spiritual walk and the place of grace in all of this takes centre stage this week. Words escape what transpired as we talked, suffice to say this is a grace saturated episode of Between 2 Sundays. Join Mark B and Mark G as we rediscover the mind-blowing grace of God and especially what that looks like in the midst of pain... (The readings for the Seventeenth Sunday After Pentecost are: Lamentations 1:1-6 and Lamentations 3:19-26 • Psalm 137 • 2 Timothy 1:1-14 • Luke 17:5-10)

It's Money, Money, Money this week on Between 2 Sundays. Mark B and Mark G look at the prophetic act of buying fields, what it means to store up treasures in heaven, and what the fate of the rich man, (as opposed to Lazarus) in Jesus' parable means for us... (The readings for the Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost are: Jeremiah 32:1-3a, 6-15 and Psalm 91:1-6, 14-16 • 1 Timothy 6:6-19 • Luke 16:19-31)
