As NFL training camps open across the country, Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier, dive into some of the biggest storylines across the league, including Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys’ baffling handling of star edge rusher Micah Parsons’ long-term contract negotiations.
“Just because we sign [Parsons] doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. He was hurt six games last year. Seriously,” Jones told reporters, incorrectly, as Parsons missed four games last season. “I remember signing a player for the highest paid at the position in the league and he got knocked out two-thirds of the year — Dak Prescott. So there’s a lot of things you can think about, just as the player does, when you’re thinking about committing and guaranteeing money.”
Jones’ comments have the potential not just to sour any ongoing talks with Parsons but to torpedo the Cowboys’ season.
Meanwhile, NFL wide receiver Jordan Matthews joins the show to lend his insight on the Eagles’ offense’s ability to take the next step, how Ashton Jeanty fits Chip Kelly’s Las Vegas Raiders offense, and reveals his top players at the position across the league.

The Philadelphia region’s longstanding regional nightmare is over, as the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell’s efforts to ban the tush-push came up two votes short during the league’s meeting in Minnesota.
After former Eagles center Jason Kelce flew to Minnesota to lobby owners against voting to ban the play, the tush-push survived after a 22-10 vote to ban it.
The onus now, as Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier discuss on the latest Between The Hashmarks Podcast falls on NFL defensive coordinators to figure out how to stop the play and offensive line coaches to figure out how to replicate it now that an effort to change the rule failed.
Lombardo and Tanier also break down the implications of Brock Purdy’s long-term contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, the NFL Flag Football Olympic Dream Team, and more on an action-packed episode.

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear to have waived the white flag on the 2025 NFL offseason, after trading electrifying and enigmatic wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.
Pickens, 24, lands opposite CeeDee Lamb in quarterback Dak Prescott’s supporting cast, fresh off averaging 15.3 yards per reception last season as a potential missing piece in the Cowboys’ offense and a signal that the Steelers might finally be embracing a full-blown reset.
Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier break down just how much Pickens’ arrival alters the Cowboys’ outlook, where the Steelers go from here, and how to make it to Maui to cover Los Angeles Rams minicamp on the latest edition of the Between The Hashmarks Podcast.

The NFL came for the Tush Push, but the Philadelphia Eagles’ signature play survives to live at least another day.
During the NFL Annual Meeting, the league opted to table any discussion over banning the tush push until the league’s next meetings. However, there were several rule changes that were adopted, including a modification to the kickoff rule and the implementation of the playoff overtime rules in the regular season.
On the latest episode of the Between The Hashmarks Podcast NFL Reporters Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier share their thoughts on the tush push decision, the new rules, and some of the biggest moves made across the league in recent weeks.

NFL free agency is in full swing, and several teams have already made marquee moves, potentially to take the next step towards hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.
The Cincinnati Bengals wound up being one of the biggest spenders of the offseason, ending a two-season long soap opera involving elite wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, agreeing to terms with both of their top playmakers.
Chase becomes the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history, agreeing to terms on a $160 million extension, while Higgins becomes the top-paid No. 2 wide receiver ever, on a four-year deal worth $115 million.
NFL reporters Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier of Mike Tanier's Too Deep Zone share their thoughts on the biggest winners across the league, so far in free agency, and former Bengals wide receiver Carl Pickens joins to break down Cincinnati’s offensive outlook and how he expects Chase and Higgins’ deals to work out for the Bengals on this week’s Between The Hashmarks Podcast.

The Los Angeles Rams have allowed quarterback Matthew Stafford to speak to other teams to gauge his value, as the NFL offseason shifts into high-gear.
Stafford, 37, is set to count $46 million against the cap this season, and in a year where quality quarterback play could be tough to find, the Rams just might look to move on from theirs to stockpile draft capital.
How seriously are the Rams considering trading Stafford? Which teams make the most sense for the 16-year veteran with a Super Bowl ring on his finger?
Matt Lombardo and Mike Tanier try to make sense of the Stafford speculation, as Tanier sets the scene with what he’s hearing in Indianapolis during the NFL Scouting Combine, and much more!
