New Mexico United stadium is one step closer to being under construction, having seen of a legal challenge. However New Mexico United will feel Hossou Landry’s challenges should have seen him sent off as Charleston Battery handled the altitude challenge of Albuquerque.

FC Tulsa and Las Vegas Lights put on a show in the rain with FC Tulsa picking up a late win.

Birmingham Legion took advantage of Jake McGuire’s night to pick up all 3 points against North Carolina FC.

Hartford Athletic hang on against Detroit City, who are singing the summertime blues.

After, we take a look at all things Western Conference. From the freedom Las Vegas now have, to the sides at the bottom who might have a chance to get into the eight, we discuss all the positives and concerns for each of the 12 teams in the Western Conference. From the new manager changes to the yo-yoing of Phoenix Rising and Monterey Bay. Will one of the sides playing on a diamond finish atop the West in New Mexico, El Paso or Tulsa?

A light review, as the Philadelphia Union/NY Red Bulls Quarterfinal match was postponed due to severe weather, including thunderstorms and lightning, from Chester up north to Philadelphia Proper. The rescheduled date is set for Wednesday, August 13th.

Meanwhile, in Music City, the other Quarterfinal match-up was a big win for the home side after going behind in the first 24 minutes, but took over very quickly. This one was over after the second half whistle blew by the referee.

We have some great action to discuss when the 2025 US Open Cup Quarterfinals come to our screens. We had excitement and fun between Minnesota United FC & Chicago Fire, or the grinding between the San Jose Earthquakes and Austin FC.

Without a doubt, these two games, while challenging and quirky, showed these four clubs going at it for the right to be called the National Champion of American Soccer. The first day of the Quarterfinals was awesome. Let’s hope the second day brings that type of challenge as well.

On this edition of The Third Half:

Pittsburgh Riverhounds smile as New Mexico United play right into their hands. Yet neither El Paso Locomotive or FC Tulsa can take advantage. Copa Tejas starts with a San Antonio win and a look at how 11 couldn’t handle 10 in Miami.

We go back to Thursday where Loudoun United are getting too comfortable playing with 10, but Orange County couldn’t take advantage of it. With North Carolina not able to get past Loudoun on Sunday, could NCFC win the Southern Derby season series against Charleston Battery?

The Western Conference got tighter at the bottom in the race for the eight. Lexington SC and Oakland Roots get off the bottom while Louisville City relegate Colorado Springs to finishing the weekend in last place.

Las Vegas is happy to see the end of Sacramento Republic, Birmingham Legion frustrate Rhode Island and Nico Campuzano’s injury takes some of the shine from a fantastic Indy Eleven performance.
