Well, after the last 48 hours of spin, self rationalizations and quite frankly pathetic, false equivalencies it’s time to have an honest conversation again about USMNT fandom, the former players and the media that cover the sport in this country. Because I’m not pulling punches, I go after myself as well in this video.
On this Round of 16 Matchday Review show, first we discuss the Folarin Balogun one match ban suspension by FIFA and possibly a phone call from President Donald Trump. We saw Brazil failing to earn their first win against Norway as they were taken down by Erling Haaland. Then the night cap saw England enter the famed Estadio Azteca and hold on to a one-goal win while down to ten men.
These are the games we are reviewing. Brazil Vs. Norway & Mexico Vs. England
We dissect why Roberto Martinez kept getting hired for big jobs and why he continues to fail in this episode.
Thoughts on the FIFA decision to suspend Folarin Balogun’s red card suspension, Trump’s involvement, FIFA doing typical FIFA things, just outcomes vs. flawed processes, and what it means for a monumental
moment for the US tonight in Seattle.
We dive into why Belgium despite having some of the most decorated superstars in world football have consistently failed as a national team. It’s cultural, it’s historic it’s a lot. It’s heavy.
What a victory for England, and this is the point where we stop talking about the players who were not on the plane to the United States and Mexico and those who battled heroically in one of England’s greatest ever wins.
In our first Round of 16 Matchday review, we discuss how Canada looked great against Morocco in the first half, but that extra bit of quality from Morocco got them through to the Quarterfinals to knock out one of the tri-hosts. Then, in a rough-and-tumble match, the French were able to defeat Paraguay with a single goal and held on.
Reviewing these matches, Canada Vs. Morocco & France Vs. Paraguay
