Kerry Carter has been at Atavus for about 4 years and has helped spearhead their development in the football space. We talk about how Kerry's entrepreneurial approach has been able to plug into what Atavus is doing so that both he and the company can flourish. Atavus has made incredible strides in a short amount of time impacting the football world for the better.

Carter also opened up about his playing experience. He had the opportunity to play alongside and for many great athletes and coaches. We explored what makes people successful and how athletic endeavors create the tools necessary to thrive in any environment,

On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by Ausar Walcott. 

Ausar Walcott was charged with attempted murder for an altercation in 2013 that de-railed his football career and life altogether. For 5 years Ausar waited for his trial to being, play out and eventually end with a ‘Not Guilty’ verdict. The incident, that has now been proven to be nothing more than self defense, has put Ausar on a completely different path than where he imaged he would be.

Walcott’s NFL campaign ended days after he signed his rookie deal. Once the ordeal happened, the Cleveland Browns immediately released him. Ausar is now using the ANC Combine on June 13th 2020 to help jump start his campaign to make a comeback in the NFL to see his dreams through.

Our conversation highlights his experience weathering that storm, staying in shape and his current attempt to make in the NFL. He spent five years clearing his name, but it by no means marks the end of his story.

On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by Buffalo Bills Alumni Manager and 6 year professional football player, Jeremy Kelley.

Jeremy spent 6 years chasing the dream of being an NFL athlete. From 2011 to 2016 he spent time in the NFL, CFL and AFL before ultimately stepping away from the game as an athlete. Little did he know at the time, it would be a big step for him to move on professionally while still being a part of the NFL.

Kelley just wrapped up his third year as the Buffalo Bills Alumni Manager. He works all former players and oversees engagement and events with the hundred of legends he is contact with across the country. We talk about how he got this job, what his job entails and much more.

On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by Heisman trophy winner and philanthropist, Danny Wuerffel.

Danny is a Florida Gator legend having led the team to their first national title in 1996, the year he won the Heisman Trophy. What Wuerffel was able to accomplish on the field would only prove to be the beginning of what he would bring to the world.

While playing the New Orleans Saints he became involved with the Desire Street. Fast forward to today and Danny has been the executive director for Desire Street Ministries for over 15 years (desirestreet.org) where he leads the charge in helping turn around communities that need help. He has continued to partner with leaders in different areas of the country to help fuel their local efforts. He is truly making a difference.

Danny's namesake has also been attached to the Wuerffel Trophy which is given to a student-athlete who is active with their community service while also performing in the classroom and on the field.

Jake wanted to be a professional athlete like every young boy growing up. When he realized that career wasn’t’t going to launch, he was determined to work with athletes and still be a sports professional. GRIT Player Services is the business he launched to assist athletes in a ‘boots on the ground’ way to grow their digital platform.

Miller didn’t just stumble into this. He worked relentlessly through college and interned at multiple massive digital companies which helped him navigate this space. On his journey he has already accomplished an astonishing amount as he has dove headfirst into projects he could have only dreamed he would be a part of.

Ulysees wrapped up his rookie season on the IR, but that is nothing more than a bump in the road. He is a young promising linebacker from Akron where he was an All-Conference player 3 times and twice the team’s defensive MVP. 

Gilbert is looking to hit his second year with a full head of steam. He has recovered from his back injury and has been working to get into the best shape of his life. He talks about his journey and all things Steelers.

Terrence Wheatley NFL Cornerback on Patriots and College Career On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by former 2nd round pick of the New England Patriots and standout defensive back at Colorado, Terrence Wheatley. 

Terrence is all over the record books at Colorado where he did it all as a cornerback. We spoke about how he worked himself into an elite prospect and he had did it with a fused wrist. Unfortunately, he severely damaged both wrists in a few years time and his NFL career was cut short.

Wheatley has been out of football for a few years now. He worked extensively in brand management with the Dallas Cowboys and most recently he has been at Atavus where he is the Director of Corporate Development and Partnerships.

On this episode of the Beyond the Helmet we are joined by 14 year NFL Vet, Hall of Fame Raider, Fred Biletnikoff.

Fred is hosting his Annual Golfing Tournament  (www.biletnikoff.org) to benefit the Biletnikoff Foundation and their mission on July 13th. Our conversation starts with this and his philanthropic work which has honored the life of his daughter, Tracey Biletnikoff. The world lost Tracey far too soon and Fred’s efforts have been built around helping young women similar to Tracey.

The legacy of Fred on the field is unparalleled. In his 14 years he gathered 589 receptions for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns, and had a then-league-record 10 straight seasons of 40 or more receptions. This in an era were the Raiders were one of the top teams in the AFL/NFL and passing was not as predominant as it is today.

The Biletnikoff award is given to the best wide receiver in college football. That pretty much says it all. It was honor to get to know one of the football’s legends.

His incredible philanthropic career started while he was a NFL player. His playing days were nearly as prolific as what he has done in the second phase of his life.

On the field Kevin amassed over 100 sacks in his NFL career, led the league in sacks in one season and earned a Super Bowl victory. This came after earning an All-American nomination at Florida where he is still considered an All-Time great. Carter has also put together a brilliant career as a sports broadcaster and is seen regularly on CBS.

Hakeem is a real estate investor and has recently launched a Perspective Global Media. His entrepreneurial spirit grew over his 3 years of playing in the NFL. 2019-2020 has provided the time time for Hakeem to go deeper into these ventures as he had decided to step away from the game to pursue them. 

Valles, however, may not be done with football yet. While he currently is training to make a NFL comeback, he does so with the peace of mind of having a full team to support his businesses. Hakeem previously played with the Cardinals, Lions and Giants and he was a captain at Monmouth University.
