In this study of Hezekiah and Manasseh, the lesson centers on faithfulness, pride, legacy, and the consequences of neglecting the next generation, drawing heavily from 2 Kings 19, where the angel of the Lord defeats 185,000 Assyrians; 2 Kings 20, where Hezekiah falls mortally ill, prays, and is granted fifteen more years; Psalm 56:8, which reminds us that God collects every tear; Joshua 10:12–14, where God demonstrates His sovereignty over time by holding the sun in place; 2 Chronicles 33, which records the wicked reign of Manasseh after Hezekiah; and 1 Timothy 1:15, declaring that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—showing that although Hezekiah began as a reformer who trusted God, his pride in displaying his treasures and his failure to prepare the next generation led to devastating spiritual decline, culminating in Manasseh’s idolatry, child sacrifice, and occult practices, ultimately fulfilling the prophetic warning that what is not spiritually guarded and intentionally passed down will be corrupted, and echoing Christ’s sobering question about whether faith will be found when He returns.
