  • The Pledge of Allegiance

My View on the Pledge of Allegiance

When I salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance, I am not saluting the government. I am saluting those who truly sacrificed for our freedom. I am saluting those who go above the call of duty to protect us (police, first responders, the military). I am saluting rural America which still largely holds to traditional values of Christian morality. To be patriotic, to express Christian Nationalism through allegiance to this nation, is not to condone past administrations or present ones. It is to promote a Biblical Christian worldview inside what was, and for some still is, the greatest nation in the world. Respectfully, I believe that the more we lose our grip on that ideal (however muddy and sin-filled our nation has become) the closer we are to a fallen country which, in turn, will allow Satan to raise up truly totalitarian rule from countries like China and Russia. They and Satan want nothing better than Americans losing all sense of patriotism and nationalism, especially as it becomes a cancer undermining our military readiness.

  • Disney “Woke” Up and Fired Chapek and Reappointed Iger

Sunday, Disney made a startling staffing change. After only eleven months on the job, their CEO, Bob Chapek, was summarily fired by the board and temporarily replaced by Bob Iger, the former CEO as they search for a replacement. Why would Disney do such a drastic, unannounced and disruptive thing? Would it have anything to do with the failure of their woke agenda?

  • Why India Resists Christian Evangelism

This past week I had a lengthy conversation with a Biblical Christian couple who have been missionaries in India for many years. Toward the end of our discussion, I asked them why they are so fearful and secretive about sharing their faith. Their response shocked me but, sadly, did not surprise me.

The sad reality is that the deterioration of American morality has its impact not only on this country but on those outside our borders as well. Biblical Christian evangelism in India, and likely in other non-western nations throughout the world, is being hindered by the association with drifting western cultural norms. So, even in those places where Christians can speak safely and openly about their faith, they must remain clandestine in order not to be tainted by the reputation of their home country.

  • Only 6% of Americans Have a Biblical Worldview

Reviewing the data, it quickly becomes apparent that what people think they believe (a Biblical Christian Worldview) is not what they are actually willing to accept when pressed. What is perhaps most shocking, if one is willing to accept the data, is that among those who attend evangelical churches, 81% claim to have a Biblical Christian worldview, however when questioned in detail, only 21% are willing to fully accept its tenants. Looking deeper into the demographics it should not be a surprise that our acceptance of those theological constructs deteriorates the younger the generation polled. That reality, if left unchecked, does not bode well for our future.

This is just further documentation that America has long since left its position as a Christian nation, regardless of the rhetoric of its population to the contrary. Undermining it all is the realization that, when pressed on contemporary issues that run counter to a Biblical Christian worldview, many submit to evolving cultural norms rather than remaining “aligned with the Bible, acknowledging its truth and applicability to every area of life.”

  • Christian Nationalism - Theocracy vs. Secular rule

Earlier this month I wrote a brief article breaking down the words “Christian” and “Nationalism”, attempting to more clearly define what the concept SHOULD mean, based on its individual components. My point was more to demonstrate how concepts get twisted in this present age of divisiveness. As readers responded, it forced me to more clearly think through the concerns progressives have regarding their gaslighting; believing Christians could successfully turn America into a theocracy (a government ruled by religious authority). One of the most extreme comments expressing this viewpoint was from a writer (whom I responded to in a post), referring to my views as “Christofascist Dominionist Theocracy”.

As Christians, we may be understandably sensitive to the implications of terms such as Christian Nationalism or those who erroneously suggest we have the power to establish a Christian Theocracy. However, the vacuum created by excluding those Christians willing to step up in government leadership could only be described as a country experiencing...

  • Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation

This is a topic of some controversy in the Christian world. It speaks to one who, at first, seems to be outwardly following the tenants of the Christian faith for a period of time. However, at some point, they begin to drift into unrepentant sin, actively deconstruct their faith, or, find some of their once-accepted Biblical Christian theology becoming untenable and they simply walk away from the Bible, church, Christian peers, etc. Do these changes suggest (1) a loss of salvation, (2) a temporary and recoverable drifting, or (3) are they just documenting the fact that they were never “saved” in the first place?

There is a continuing sin nature in the heart of all mankind, including the saved. We see it manifest itself in every Christian that has ever lived, except Jesus. For seekers to see any credibility in Biblical Christian evangelism, we need to acknowledge that reality and still be able to demonstrate a faith and hope for eternal life. Otherwise, we are hypocritical and legalistic as we suggest we have to fully resist sin that is not demonstrated by our behavior (Rom. 7:16-18). However, there is no question that the saved need to be convicted of their sin, and repentance is evidence of our continuing desire to love and serve God and our brothers and sisters in Christ (Matt. 18:21). In my view, that process is contained within sanctification, while on the narrow path toward eternal life with God, and not a constantly flipping Heaven/Hell switch that one is never sure will be on the Heaven side at the point of death.

  • Does the Bible confirm God is Omniscient (All-Knowing) or not?

I received a great question from a reader using a number of Scripture verses to make the point that God is not omniscient. The suggestion was that God makes decisions and adjustments as events continue to unfold. Of course, this theological view holds great concern for those who believe the Bible is inerrant and has plotted the history of mankind from eternity past to eternity future, based on the wisdom of an all-knowing, all-powerful, sovereign God.

For God to be God and for man to accept Him as our Lord and, through Christ, our Savior, we need to be assured that He has the power, understanding, and authority to make the claims He does. The greatest of those claims is that Christ died on the cross for the sins of all those who trust Him. And, that He is coming again for His children. The Lord has written the Bible as a history lesson, a manual for our life on this earth, and a basis for our eternal faith. To believe the Bible is perfect in its original autographs necessitates faith in the Writer’s omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence.

  • Marijuana and the Biblical Christian

As of the most recent mid-term elections, we now have approximately 37 states which allow the legal use of medical marijuana, and 21 states that have legalized its recreational use. Additional states have decriminalized, but not completely legalized its sale and use. As a Christian, desiring to conform to the will of God, what should our response be, both our personal use of marijuana and our view of its use in general?

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. – Romans 12:2

Smoking recreational marijuana and tuning out from the world simply cannot fit into a paradigm of what is “good and acceptable and perfect” as the will of God.

  • Christian Salvation in Less Than 150 Words

Christian Salvation in Less Than 150 Words

I have written over 300 articles and responded to nearly 4,000 comments over the last two years on BCWorldview and Medium.com. There is much I could say about the experience, however my reason for investing the time has been, and continues to be, to use it as a frail way of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.

Yes, there is much more than the gospel offered in my writing. However, the intent has always been to attract an audience in order to share the greatest gift one can offer another person, an eternal, personal relationship with the Creator of the universe.

It is with that thought that I’ve been boiling down all my core theology over the last few weeks, using the question “What Makes a Christian, a Christian?” as a catalyst. Ironically, that ridiculously long 2500+ word essay, (probably the most important post I have written), can be boiled down to less than 150 words.

A Christian is someone who has been saved and will, consequently, spend eternal life in Heaven.

So, if salvation (fellowship with Him) is the ultimate intent of God, the singular question of life becomes, how does one “get saved”? To that, I would like to humbly offer a short answer.

Salvation, in Two Bible Verses and Less than 150 Words

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV

Salvation, comes through God's grace alone, exclusively through our faith in Jesus Christ, alone.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. - Romans 10:9-10 ESV

We must profess that faith, stated above, by openly acknowledging Jesus Christ as both our Savior and our Lord. Further, we need to believe in our heart (not just our head) that He died and rose again as a payment for our past, present, and future sins.

146 words to be exact. We can all spend our days talking about the latest election results or the theology of speaking in tongues, and everything in between. In the end, we will either go to Heaven or Hell for eternity, regardless of all that we say or all that we do. Solomon, the wisest man (beyond Jesus) that ever lived, said life is “vanity of vanities”. Shakespeare made the same point by saying, “we strut and fret our hour upon the stage and then are no more”.

Salvation brings infinitely more to man than anything we can possibly acquire through our own efforts. And, if it can be explained in less than 150 words, how amazing is that!
