Our verse for today comes from John 19:24, “They said therefore among themselves, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,’ that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: ‘They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.’ Therefore the soldiers did these things.”
As we seek Him today, accept no substitutes for knowing and following the risen Jesus.

Over the last nearly two years I have monitored the process of Deconstruction of our Christian worldview. Many define the term “deconstruction” in a favorable light, often in order to suit their underlying objectives. Those in the pro-deconstruction camp would say that they have finally broken away from false traditional Christian dogma and are on an exciting journey, looking at Christ and God from a fresh and honest perspective. What is interesting about that viewpoint to me is twofold.
God not only wrote the history of mankind; He is in control of the future of mankind. God’s timing in all matters is perfect. As Biblical Christians, we should not be concerned about any trends or persecution or losses. As mankind deconstructs, we need to be even more diligent in seeking places and opportunities to serve Him. God is neither surprised nor concerned that there are fewer and fewer labors in the fields that are ripe for harvest (John 4:35). His will will be done (Matt. 6:10).

It would be difficult to ignore the overwhelming evidence that there is evil in the world. The real question is its source. Many view humanity’s anger and violence as simply “human nature”, without much thought as to a deeper cause. Christians assign the existence of evil into two broad categories, one Supernatural, and one in the Natural Realm.
I would love to read an existential, secular argument for the existence of Satan and his demons without using the Bible as one’s only proof text. Acknowledging there is sin in the world, or that caricatures of Satan and evil are ubiquitous throughout other religions, or people are demon-possessed, or houses are haunted, etc., for me, is not proof of the supernatural existence of a real Satan and his ilk. My reliance is on the Bible and, for those who reject it, I sadly can offer no other supporting evidence beyond the reality of evil in the world.

Again, the list above represents what I would respectfully consider important, but secondary Biblical Christian theology. I have intentionally glossed over the details of each as my objective was not to either define or defend one view over another. Unfortunately, many Christians hold systematic theology that includes some of these components, interlocking within their dogma, making it difficult to separate core from the less-essential. My dividing line is two-fold. First, what is clear from Scripture without the need to significantly reconcile competing verses. Second, what dogma is, and is not dependent on Salvation. The less-essential can be debated by believers for eternity in Heaven as we sit and worship the Father.
