A reader recently responded to my posts on Heaven and Hell by offering a detailed response supporting Annihilationism, or the theology that unbelievers of Jesus Christ will cease to exist at the point of death. 

There are many verses in Scripture that document the conditions found in Hell. To put it succinctly, Annihilationists believe that humans cannot exist in that environment and will be quickly burned up. In my opinion, their theology misses three points from a Biblical Christian Worldview.

1. Mankind is made up of BOTH the physical and the spiritual.
2. Scripture makes clear Hell is an eternal condition for those unfortunate enough to find themselves there. 
3. Our ways are not God’s ways. The Creator of the universe can do whatever He wishes.

The Parable of the “Elder” Prodigal Son - Often, it is not until we hit bottom, until so much we thought was secure is taken away from us, that we recognize we are not in control and we need a Savior, who is also our Lord. Stand Up For Our Country Or Take A Knee For Its Injustices? - As Biblical Christians, this is a valid question. Where should we stand in this continuum of tension between, “Stand Up For Your Country”, the slogan coined by Bill O’Reilly, or “Take a Knee for its Injustices”, the visual campaign started by Colin Kaepernick? Obviously, there is so much material on this issue that many books have, and will be written about it. However, after all the rhetoric and venom has been spilled, where should the true Christian stand? Equally important, how should the Christian defend their stance in such a polarized climate?

Christian Socialism and the Bible - The decision on where we, as Christians, should stand on Socialism in this country is one that will become increasingly important as the Biden administration moves forward. I would offer three foundational principles that puts Socialism in perspective and provides a basis for rejecting Christian Socialism as a contradiction in terms. 

The Underlying Cause of Polarization - Regardless of where you stand, right or left, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, communist, socialist, or capitalist, no one would argue that polarization in this country continues to increase.  However, what is the underlying cause? As more in this country reject a supreme authority in the establishment of what is and is not sin, man, and his laws have to increasingly step into the void. That is to say, the more man steps into the role of God, the closer we are to the end of time itself.

It is only through God’s grace and our faith that we can look forward to the Holy Spirit. He lives in and through us while on this earth. Our ultimate eternal destination is Heaven with our Lord and Savior. If God did that for us, could God offer salvation to Satan as well?
