It’s football time.

So what does that mean for The Bicoastal Hootenanny Starring Nate and Adam? Well that means our boys are practically bursting at the seams to discuss all-things-pigskin. The boys temporarily forget they have a whole segment dedicated to sports in the latter half of the show but quickly turn to discussing other pressing matters.

Specifically, Man Law at the urinals. Make no mistake–Nate and Adam take the time-honored code of Man Law very seriously, and a debate rages over proper public piss etiquette.

Nate praises The Twilight Zone in “JD’s Office.” Adam’s never seen it. Crickets.

“The Probe” dives right into two of the most pressing issues facing the modern male today: health and racism. Nate takes aim at people who love to brag about their fitness and Mayor Mike Bloomberg, which reminds Adam of Bill de Blasio’s New York mayoral campaign, which he thinks has been kind of racist, leading Nate into the story of an old man who only wants to spend his twilight years in a small, quiet town in North Dakota… and turn it into a home-base for white supremacy. Oy.

Feeling the sting from last week’s horrendous defeat in “First Down and Balls,” Nate revels in the not-so-gentle retribution he scored over Adam this week in “Balls.” The boys move on to the upcoming week’s college and professional games (with their high school alma maters thrown in for good measure).

Nate, meanwhile, went to his first Dodgers game in 3 years where he experienced an equal-opportunity racist and some vexing musical tastes from the players.

“JD’s Office” brings you a surprisingly positive review of the current thriller (or is it a horror film?) You’re Next. Somehow this segues into a trip down memory lane… to the fantastic film year that was 1993.

Nate heats up your inner parts with a Bicoastal Hootenanny first: “A Probe Special Investigation.” On the slab this week, “Netflix: Are They as Awesome as We Think They Are?“

Adam delights in the fact that Nate got his ass handed it to him in last week’s very first edition of “First Down And Balls” during his “Balls.” The boys continue their weekly football predictions, but they are proud to bring you Hooteneers their calls on week one of the NFL.

This week the boys bring you what might be the most uppity, hyped-up and fast-shootin’ episode of The Bicoastal Hootenanny to-date!

Nate starts us off by describing his euphoric time with family in the quiet and peaceful East Texas town of Athens. Good things don’t last, as The Man says, and Nate recounts a terrifying ordeal he and his sense of mortality experienced in the skies on his way home to LA.

The lovely Emily Ann Sanders Hyndman classes up the joint in her monthly segment “See Emily Play.” Emily vents her frustration over a recent inability to collect a debt from a local cheap-ass sorority. As always, she handles the situation with dignity and grace… prompting Adam and Nate to show her the error of her ways.

Adam reveals in “JD’s Office” that, for better or for worse, he recently watched two movies he had never seen: the classic Ferris Beuller’s Day Off and the not-so-classic Ed O’Neill/JoBeth Williams/Christopher McDonald flick Dutch. Emily rambles on about a movie that no one cares about, and Nate issues the first-ever Bicoastal Hootenanny S¢ury Movie Challenge.

Nate immerses The Bicoastal Hootenanny in “The Probe” by briefly but powerfully editorializing on two recent, potentially race-related incidents and the reaction–or lack thereof–of the two most outspoken, self-proclaimed social justice activists of the day: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Everyone’s favorite “Balls” is practically boiling over with excitement due to the impending arrival of football season (pre-season don’t matter, so get over it), and Nate, Adam and Emily introduce their new season-long segment, First Down and Balls, which features rapid-fire predictions of the upcoming week’s biggest football match-ups.

Nate joins his buddy Adam from his good ol’ hometown of Athens, Texas, this week. Nate is noticeably ecstatic about being back in the Lone Star State, as he gushes to Adam about “The Black-Eyed Pea Capital of the World.”

The boys discuss their mutual disillusion of air (¢) travel. Nate’s discomfort is due to a newfound fear of flying which he believes is akin to a really stupid dare, while Adam believes the “no cell phone” policy is a complete and utter sham.

Nate warns everyone to stay away from Elysium in “JD’s Office,” while praising the smaller drama Fruitvale Station. Once again, Adam is a man of few words on the movie front.

After a few takes, Nate finally introduces “The Probe,” your weekly hard-hitting news segment here on The BH. Mayor Bob Filner of San Diego finds himself once again the target of sexual harrassment charges, while the CIA finally acknowledges what we’ve always known- that Area 51 does indeed exist.

The highlight of this week’s episode- nay, of the YEAR- comes during Adam’s “Balls,” as Nate brings his Old Man, former LSU linebacker Tommy Frizzell, onto the show. Adam produces his best interview to-date, discussing LSU football during the Charles McClendon era. The boys get a little somethin’ extra (lagniappe, for all you Cajun brethren), however, when they realize that Big Frizzell is not only responsible for Little Frizzell’s existence… but also perhaps for Adam “Tootnanny” Wilson’s existence as well.

You just gotta listen to this episode.

On Tootnanny Tuesday this week, Adam recounts his weekend with Stephen Black, his friend from West Monroe who flew in from his current home of Austin, Texas, for the weekend.  Stephen thought he had typhus a few months ago, but his doctor recently informed him that he was just being a pussy.

Adam also reviews a show by Louisiana roots band The Revelers that he saw at the Jalopy Theatre in Brooklyn Friday night.

The Bicoastal Hootenanny waste no time in delivering you the goods in Episode 27.

After briefly discussing Texas’s Little-Man Syndrome and wishing Hootenanny friend and former guest Chris Cariker (¢) a happy birthday, Nate relays his experience seeing legendary crooner Tony Bennett in concert at the Hollywood Bowl… and the people seated near him who were determined to ruin the night for him.

In “JD’s Office,” Nate urges everyone to see Woody Allen‘s new film Blue Jasmine. Just make sure you’re near some alcohol after it’s over…

More trouble out of Florida, says “The Probe.” Nate explores the recent beating of a white student by three older black teenagers (an issue that is sure to raise Adam’s ire), stolen puppies and burglars who had a change of heart.

Adam talks about balls–hidden balls, that is–in everyone’s favorite segment, “Balls.” And it is a milestone for Adam Wilson, ladies and gentlemen, as he has purchased a New Orleans Pelicans shirt- thereby affirming his “lifelong loyalty” to the NBA team.

Friend and Hooteneer Adam Hose joins Adam “Tootnanny” Wilson for Tootnanny Tuesday this week to tell us of his amazing brush with instant replay in Major League Baseball this past Sunday in Philadelphia.  Hose, a 36-year-old man who still brings his baseball glove to every game he attends, has a history of being near home run balls starting with his snagging a then-Baltimore Orioles infielder Mark Reynolds home run on Father’s Day 2011 in Washington.

After some good baseball talk, Adam presents his three Tootnanny Song of the Month nominees:
