  • Mini Boss Babble Episode 8: Part 1 - Heat Signature (Part 2)
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this Mini Boss Babble we continue our discussion of Suspicious Development's Heat Signature following its launch last week. For those unaware of the game, it's a top-down title where you play a mercenary in an independent faction within a procedurally generated galaxy — you use a variety of weapons, techniques, and gadgets to complete a variety of missions which each revolve around infiltrating ships against the odds.Toby leads the topic while Dann, Dan & Terry all chime in.If you're interested in hearing the full podcast, complete with bonus content, then you have many choices, including:- Checking out our Big Boss Babble archive on Bigbossbattle.com- Heading over to the Big Boss Babble Podiant feed.Or you can check out our Mini Boss Babble Podiant feed. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 7: Part 6 - Cook Serve Delicious 2
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this Mini Boss Babble we discuss Cook Serve Delicious 2 from developer Vertigo Gaming Inc.Cook Serve Delicious is a tough game to explain, as Dann learns. It combines the joy of completing mundane tasks, as seen in Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, with what are essentially quick-time-events of your choosing. As it turns out, running a kitchen is a series of extremely rapid decisions and key-presses made best by a person too stubborn to hire an assistant.Dann attempts to explain how bloody brilliant the bloody brilliant game is, while Toby, Terry and Jorge mostly get it, but nod along anyway. If you're interested in hearing the full podcast, complete with bonus content, then you have many choices, including:- Checking out our Big Boss Babble archive on Bigbossbattle.com- Heading over to the Big Boss Babble Podiant feed. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 7: Part 3 - Hunting Yankee
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this Mini Boss Babble we discuss Hunting Yankee, a game created by a North Korean developer, which revolves around sniping American soldiers. What we skipped over in the podcast was that this was marginally endorsed by national outlets, adding extra weight to a potential endorsement. Regardless of this though, the team talk over what little we know about the game as well as other games which have deliberately tried to singe nerves.Toby heads up the topic, with Terry, Dann & Jorge partaking in the discussion. If you're interested in hearing the full podcast, complete with bonus content, then you have many choices, including:- Checking out our Big Boss Babble archive on Bigbossbattle.com- Heading over to the Big Boss Babble Podiant feed. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 7: Part 2 - Digital Rights and Fair Use
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this Mini Boss Babble we discuss a question raised by the recent fallout regarding a famous Youtuber uttering a word which, simply, shouldn't ever be said. This event led to Campo Santa, creators of Firewatch, DMCA'ing the creator's video of their game, as they felt the creator should no longer profit from their creation. As such, our topic revolves around who has a right to the created content, and whether 'Fair Use', a commonly quoted legal term, is valid. As the topic is rather a deep one, views are definitely mixed. There's a lot of elements to be taken into consideration; licensing, personality, community, creation, and distribution. As 'streaming' over 'video' feels like a natural extension of the 'bundling around yer mates house to watch 'em play a few games' the two mediums and their differences are touched on as well.Terry first breaches the subject, while Jorge, Toby, and Dann all chime in with their thoughts. If you're interested in hearing the full podcast, complete with bonus content, then you have many choices, including:- Checking out our Big Boss Babble archive on Bigbossbattle.com- Heading over to the Big Boss Babble Podiant feed. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 7: Part 1 - Tooth and Tail
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this Mini Boss Babble we discuss Tooth and Tail from developer Pocketwatch Games (Creators of Monaco). For those unaware the game is a streamlined and fast-paced RTS with an interesting, minimal control system which places the player as both general and cursor. It's not just the game's control system which is memorable, the game has an unprecedented setting which pits animals against animals in a fight for food as part of an intriguing mix of the troubles of the Russian Revolution and Industrial Era.Jorge leads both the topic and allied forces to war, while Dann, Toby & Terry are simply hungry and not quite militant about it all just yet.If you're interested in hearing the full podcast, complete with bonus content, then you have many choices, including:- Checking out our Big Boss Babble archive on Bigbossbattle.com- Heading over to the Big Boss Babble Podiant feed. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Big Boss Babble Episode 6 — Warner Bros, L.A. Noire, Fight of the Gods, XCOM 2.
This week’s host was Toby, and he was joined by speakers Jorge, Dann and the Spirit of Terry, to discuss a bevy of topics. You can find each of the discussed topics below. This week's bonus discussion takes place at the end of the podcast, with Toby bringing forth discussion on the (frankly despicable) inclusion of dabbing in Nintendo's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle — although to be fair the topic is just Dann whinging about being old.00:00:00 – Toby – PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - A million consecutive players have now been spotted playing the battle royale game that just won't stop breaking records.00:18:07 – Jorge – Warner Bros' Charitable Act - Discussing the upcoming Shadow of War DLC which was originally intended as a tribute to a member of the team who had passed away. Due to recent changes the DLC now costs money, and there's a big grey area surrounding where the money (intended to be a donation originally) will go when it is sold outside of the North American region.00:29:17 – Dann – XCOM 2: War of the Chosen - Dann prattles on mindlessly about XCOM 2's recent expansion, how it could have been a standalone game, and how it completely changes the pace and linearity of the game for the better.00:29:17 – Jorge – L.A. Noire - Rockstar and Team Bondi's 2011 detective title is said to be making a return. The team discuss the game at large, where it went wrong and where it succeeded. Please Note: We state that 'Doubt' was originally meant to be 'Accuse', in fact it was originally 'Force', you can read more about that here, ( https://web.archive.org/web/20111112094843/http://www.next-gen.biz/news/la-noires-doubt-was-originally-called-force ) [Archive of Edge]00:42:56 – Toby – Fight of Gods - Yeah — so, somebody made a game where Buddha and Jesus can fight, and that's not cool, and so the Steam Store got blocked in Malaysia, and the team discuss how Valve need to be more proactive.00:53:29 – Jorge – Steam's 'Sexy' Problem - Carrying on perfectly from the previous conversation, Jorge mentions Steam's reaction time and technique when scandals kick off based around games on the platform. The most recent game to have this happen is Strangers in a Strange Land, which we touch on briefly. Each of these will be released as individual Mini Boss Babbles throughout the week, however those versions will lack the opening discussion included in this podcast. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 5: Part 6 - Nindies
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this, the final part of our fifth Big Boss Babble podcast, we discuss Nintendo's latest batch of 'Nindies' as well as the true meaning behind 'Nindies'.It's a somewhat heated discussion, with the team divided on exactly how much pride Nintendo should take regarding 'securing'' games for their platform, however the team do all agree that more games in general is a good thing, regardless of which platform holder it is for. There's also a discussion based around the accomplishments of the console versus Nintendo's previous consoles, and whether —for comparing such— the Switch should be considered an advanced Mobile platform, or handheld, rather than a conventional home console.Jorge, who has collected six of the seven secret acorns, leads the topic, while Terry, Dan & Dann have no idea why we are using collectathon analogies for a subject based around independent games on a Nintendo platform. If you’re interested in hearing the full podcast then you can check it out here. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 5: Part 5 - Flashcarts
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this, the fifth part of our fifth Big Boss Babble podcast, we discuss flashcards, a storage medium used to emulate the controls and feel of older platforms by actually requiring a version of the console to function. What starts off as a simple discussion on the principle becomes a discussion on some of the older generation's technology, as well as some discussion on the technology itself.Flashmaster Trence takes the topic, while Dan, Dann, and Jorge mutter about the good old days.If you’re interested in hearing the full podcast then you can check it out here. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 5: Part 4 - Star Wars: Empire at War's Multiplayer Servers
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this, the fourth part of our fifth Big Boss Babble podcast, we discuss the sudden return of Star Wars: Empire at War's multiplayer servers, as well as what that could mean for older games which had previously been sent to the farm.RTS games, as much as MMORPGs, revolved around online communities to keep the games alive; with the ease of which severs were shuttered over the last decade there are a lot of games which have simply been erased from history. Could a simple act of audience-tribute from Disney be enough to kick start a revolution in maintaining and reinstating fallen servers?Dann is still searching for lobby, while Terry, Jorge, and Dan all input their own opinions into a message buffer while they wait for him to join.If you’re interested in hearing the full podcast then you can check it out here. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed? • Mini Boss Babble Episode 5: Part 3 - Infinite Minigolf
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast. In this, the third part of our fifth Big Boss Babble podcast, we discuss Infinite Minigolf, specifically because it was removed from the Switch store after it was discovered that the game contained illicit content. As we discuss, developers and animators have been hiding messages and images in games for years. Why, however, we simply don't know. Boredom probably,*Please note: we erroneously state the reported issues, in fact the game was pulled due to a naked woman around the genital area of a hulking alien on a poster.*Terry led the discussion of this topic, while Dann, Dan & Jorge all chimed in.If you’re interested in hearing the full podcast then you can check it out here. Can’t find us on your ideal podcast feed?
