Ever wrestled with a standard airplane seatbelt, praying for just an inch more of slack? Ever felt the unwelcome scrutiny of fellow passengers as you board, the silent judgment heavy as lead? Buckle up for a journey through the not-so-friendly skies as we tackle the unspoken challenges of flying while fat. We'll shine a spotlight on the airline industry's troubling approach to passenger comfort and examine the implications of policies that squeeze profits at the expense of people.
Ever had someone else's toes creep into your personal space during a long haul flight? We'll share personal stories of in-flight discomforts and microaggressions, while also touching on the positives, like the unexpected luxuries of first-class flying. We'll navigate the turbulence of Southwest Airlines' Person of Size policy and the potential impact of New Zealand Airlines' controversial survey. Through it all, we'll underline the emotional toll of these experiences and the need for a more accommodating, respectful travel environment.
But this isn't just a one-way conversation. We want to hear your in-flight experiences, your tips for staying comfortable and calm, and your thoughts on how to challenge the rampant fatphobia in the aviation industry. We'll also chat about representation, dishing on our favorite fat-positive influences in the media and the necessity of normalizing fat bodies in all contexts. So, whether you're a seasoned jet-setter or preparing for your maiden voyage, join us for an illuminating discussion on the highs and lows of flying while fat.

Ever wondered how fat representation in media is evolving? We're taking the conversation head-on, exploring the latest characters in shows like Never Say Never and Survival of the Thickest. We are also chuffed to chat about the upcoming Fat is Fashion documentary and Bridget Everett's new show. But, it's not all roses. We tackle some tough topics like the extreme dieting actors undertake for roles, and the societal implications that come with it.
We also get real about the dangers of weight loss surgery and yo-yo dieting, with a poignant reflection on the unfortunate passing of Lisa Marie Presley. We dig into the world of adult films, specifically our new sponsor BBW Triple X Adventures, and the importance of diverse body representation. But it's not all about media, we also tap into our own experiences and beliefs about parenting in a fat-phobic world. We share advice for parents on how to inspire body positivity and inclusivity in their kids, and foster healthy relationships.
We wrap it all up by diving into our community updates. We talk about the much-anticipated FatCon and the Full Figure Industry Awards. Plus, we discuss some racy topics like liberator and inclusive sex furniture that are creating waves in the industry. We're all about sparking conversations, challenging norms, and building a community. So, hit that subscribe button, share the love, and don't forget to email us your thoughts and questions at [email protected]!

Ashley has some real gems to share when it comes to the right approach for using cannabis and psychedelics in sex and relationships.
In this fascinating conversation, Ashley opened up about her use of cannabis and psychedelics in her sex life, the intentional approach required when entering into a partner space while in an altered state, and her experiences teaching these practices to her clients. We discussed Aubrey's newest book "You just need to lose weight, and 19 other myths about fat people."
Merf and I had the absolute honor of interviewing Aubrey Gordon - also known as "Your Fat Friend" and co-host of the wildly popular podcast, "Maintenance Phase."
Thank you, Aubrey. We had a blast and hope you did, too.
Merf starts off by describing to Aubrey why she loved the style of her new book, "You Just Need to Lose Weight." We loved her writing style, how the chapters were broken down, and the definitions of various words we use in our community, and we REALLY loved the reflective questions Aubrey created. (Not to mention SO MANY citations and research in her book.) It is truly a fat person's RESOURCE GUIDE.
We hear a fabulous story about Merf and her boss who asked their executive team (and her work) if anyone has been reading anything that really made them think and Merf suggest Aubrey's new book!
I (Chrystal) ask Aubrey how come she did not include the "Fat Girls Give Better Blow Jobs" myth in her book. And that led to a discussion about how we fats get hypersexualized and desexualized at the exact same time. Hyper-fetishized and also meet people who will not be seen with us in the same breath.
We got to have a discussion about Aubrey meeting Lindy West recently and we both agreed that Lindy is 100% absolutely without pretense and funny as hell.
We discussed the FOREVER question about when and who should we engage with when it comes to "concern trolls" and other anti-fat jerks on the internet or out in the wild.
Merf asks Aubrey how the podcast Maintenance Phase and her books have impacted Aburey's personal life.
We have a bit of fun discussing ways we would TRULY like to "glorify obesity" if that were actually possible. Would we want free drinks? Free First Class upgrades on airlines. Cutsies in line at Disneyland? Aubrey feels COLD HARD CASH is the way to go with the perks of glorifying obesity. (Hopefully, you can read my sarcasm here. We need a sarcasm FONT!)
Aubrey enlightens us about why she prefers the term 'anti-fat' over 'fatphobia.'
I ask Aubrey (and Merf) if they have any pithy replies when faced with anti-fatness out in the wild. (People with actually diagnosed phobias already have enough stigma to deal with.) We have a meaningful discussion about HOW WE CAN AFFECT change and not just bitch about the B.M.I.
Lastly, Aubrey shared her favorite sex toy with Big Sexy Chat!
