Hi Friends,
Another version of me would have recorded a video that felt more like…
OH MY GOD EVERYONE WAKE THE F**K UP AND TAKE TO THE STREETS AND STOP SPENDING ANY MONEY AND BURN THIS F*****G HORRIFIC EMPIRE DOWN!!
The video above isn’t reflective of that version, as, like so many of you, I don’t like to be told what to do. Unless I want (need) to be told what to do.
So, my invitation to all of us is to make space for our inner wisdom. Allow our hearts to direct us, and don’t allow the fear to stop us from showing up in a more vocal way, should that be our heart’s guidance.
And no matter what, because these times are beyond insane, let’s stay committed to being kind to ourselves and giving ourselves grace. We’ll be that much more likely to offer the same kindness and compassion to one another.
Know this: however you’re feeling, you are not alone in it. I don’t believe I know a single person who isn’t struggling with the world at large right now, along with any personal struggles they may be having.
I trust our hearts. We just have to get better at listening to them, at reflecting in ourselves and each other the love our hearts know so well.
Thank you for being here. Sending you all so much love.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
In this video I talk about my experience at the NoKings protest, the importance of community, and being intentional about aligning our inner and outer worlds.
Toward the end I read the following excerpt from Enough as You Are:
Find people who can handle your darkest truths, who don’t change the subject when you share your pain or try to make you feel bad for feeling bad. Find people who understand we all struggle, some of us more than others, and that there’s no weakness in admitting it. In fact, few things take as much strength. Find people who want to be real, however that looks and feels, and who want you to be real, too. Find people who get that life is hard, and who get that life is also beautiful, and who aren’t afraid to honor both of those realities. Find people who help you feel more at home in your heart, mind, and body, and who take joy in your joy. Find people who love you, for real, and who accept you, for real. Just as you are. They’re out there, these people. Your chosen family is waiting for you. Don’t stop searching until you find them.
I’m working especially hard (and failing often) to return to love these days. There will not be a foundation of compassion and love in what we create as a society if there is not compassion and love in the creation of it.
Holding a deep prayer that more and more of us will allow our hearts to lead, that more and more of us will transcend the us vs. them narratives, and that more and more of us will come to a place of peaceful and abiding harmony with ourselves so that we can be conduits of compassion and love with one another.
With endless love and gratitude,
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
In today’s video I share about an experience I had a couple weeks ago in the Black Hills of South Dakota. An extremely comforting message from the forest of ponderosa pines around me.
The Lakota words I was looking for in the video, which mean Black Hills, are Paha Sapa.
I hope the video serves you in a good way. Let me know.
I’m inching toward doing some live videos here on Substack and would love to know what topics you’d like to hear me discuss, so please let me know that too.
Check out the upcoming, free, The Power of Love summit below. There will be much heart-centered wisdom in these talks.
Thanks for your presence here. Sending big love to you all.

Hi Friends,
I’m sitting in bed and felt a nudge to do an audio recording to share with you all. I didn’t know what I would talk about, but before pressing record, the words My heart wants you to know that you’re whole came to me. So that’s where I began.
I hope this serves your spirit in some way.
Sweet dreams…Scott

Hi Friends,
I recorded this message a couple years ago and it feels like a good reminder right now. And always.
Let me know how it resonates, and share with us all some other helpful questions you ask yourself to stay connected to love, and peace, and joy, and whatever else you’re seeking.
Every single thing we think, feel and do is human to think, feel and do, or we wouldn’t be experiencing it. Let’s be gentle with ourselves as we nudge ourselves toward a more compassionate and heart-centered way of being. And let’s never forget that love is our greatest healer, and that its energy is everywhere, within and outside of us. When we choose to engage with the energy of love, we have a much better chance of creating for ourselves and our world the kind of just and compassionate reality so many of us are longing for. Let’s stay committed to being the example of that which we’re seeking to create. Let’s continue to love the hell out of ourselves, each other, and our world.
Holding you all in my heart and sending so much love.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
I sat down this morning to work on an essay I started a few weeks ago about my struggle to figure out how to show up right now, about the heaviness I feel for our country and world, about the ever-present contradictions I grapple with as a human being in this place and time. But I don’t feel like writing about any of that right now, because I woke up this morning, having just completed an 82 hour water fast, feeling good. Feeling grounded, and joyful, and deeply connected to love.
So I’m not going to force myself into the energy of despair just to complete an essay. I’m going to hold onto this content feeling, gonna welcome it in and wrap my spirit around it as long as it lasts, gonna let myself feel joy because it’s as important as any other way to feel, even and perhaps especially in a world with so much heartbreak.
The video I’m sharing today I recorded a few years ago. In it I talk about the gift of bringing awareness to what we’re doing and how we’re feeling about what we’re doing, and the invitation in this awareness to align our choices with better feeling ways of being.
I see so much of my spiritual path as common sense. Do more of what feels good and you’ll feel good more often. Do less of what feels bad and you’ll feel bad less often. This is not advanced calculus kind of stuff. And yet, as we all know, simple and easy are not the same things, at least when it comes to living more peaceful, joyful, aligned lives.
Even so, awareness is always a great place to start. How is what I’m choosing to do right now making me feel? is a helpful question to ask, especially if we have the courage to stick with or shift our actions in accordance with the response. Without awareness, change can be especially difficult.
Let me know how the video lands for you.
I’m happy with my choice not to dive into the essay I’d been working on, not to force myself into an energy I’m not currently feeling. I’m happy with myself for opening up to the feeling of peace and joy I have right now, for choosing not to stifle it because of all the suffering out there, for remembering that it’s not my misery that helps to lift people out of theirs.
We are here to feel everything, or we wouldn’t be feeling everything. Please let yourself feel joy when it comes around. Welcome it. Play and dance and laugh with it until it decides to move on.
So much love to you all. Thank you for being here.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
Take 55 seconds and really breathe into the message from the video above. One of the surest ways to create a deeper, more loving relationship with yourself (and by extension, the world) is to understand that your worth, your enoughness, is inherent. You were born and will die worthy. You are as enough right now as you could or will ever be or have ever been. Feel that truth. Root yourself in your worthiness.
Worth is not predicated on anything. Not looks, or money, or success, or family. Nothing. It’s a birthright. Whether we believe this to be the case, however, impacts our experience of the world. A person who understands their inherent worth moves through the world quite differently than one who believes themself to be unworthy. For me it feels like the difference between being inflated and deflated, open and closed, secure and insecure.
Along with the minute-long video, today I’m going to share some passages from Enough as You Are, in the hopes that we can enter into this weekend feeling steady connection to self-acceptance and love, to our worthiness, to the truth that we are, each of us, enough as we are.
Please remember: it’s always what we do from this moment on that matters the most, and it is never too late to deepen, strengthen, transform the relationship you have with yourself, and therefore, with everyone and everything else. A good place to start is with a sincere willingness and commitment to love yourself like never before, and then see where that willingness takes you.
Whether your mind believes it or not, you really are worthy and enough, just as you are. Your heart never doubts this truth.
So much love to you all, and deep gratitude for your presence here.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
Here’s another short video from the archives to take us into the weekend connected to the ever-present energies of peace and love within us. It can be incredibly helpful to remember that, if you have ever felt peaceful even for a moment, then it is in you to feel peaceful. The same goes for feeling self-loving or joyful or creative or sexy. If you’ve ever felt any of these energies, then it’s in you to feel them all.
Let’s not let our minds convince us we can’t access the very energies we’ve already accessed. Peace, love, joy and creativity are always alive with us. If we’re not feeling them, let’s consider that an invitation to be more intentional about connecting with, generating and sharing them.
Please don’t forget: you are powerful beyond measure in your ability to direct your life in alignment with your heart’s desires, your heart’s wisdom. Everything begins with willingness and intention. Follow that with action and there’s no saying what you can access within you, and what you can create for yourself and our world. Should you choose to.
I believe in you. I believe in us.
So much love to you all.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
I shared the above, 4-minute video more than three years ago, the day after I started this Bigger Love newsletter. Please ignore the reference to Friday, unless of course you’re watching this on a Friday. :)
As you may have picked up, I’m a big fan of generative questions, questions that invite responses that lead to more joy, connection, meaning and love in our lives. When we ask ourselves this type of leading question, are honest and intentional with our answers, and then willing to act in alignment with what we discover, we stand to create more fulfilling realities in our lives. It’s a 1 + 1 = 2 sort of thing.
Let me know what comes up for you when you ask yourself, How can I love myself right now? And let me know what other questions you find helpful to ask yourself on the regular.
We are with ourselves 24/7. There is no good reason not to prioritize the relationship we have with ourselves, to prioritize creating a more loving relationship with ourselves, no matter what. And remember: self-love never stops with self; it always serves all. That’s the nature of love.
Sending you all so much love and deep gratitude for your presence here. Keep shining your light and love on our world.
xoxo…Scott

Hi Friends,
The video I’m sharing today I recorded four years ago somewhere in rural New Mexico, days after a twenty-year friendship with one of my dearest friends ended. I remember the day of that recording very well. I remember feeling betrayed by the friend in question, wildly judgmental about some of his actions, and deeply sad about our break-up. I’d spent much of the day in anger and blame. And then I got sick of feeling angry and blameful, so I very intentionally shifted into my heart to ask for its guidance.
Of course, my heart, the bold lover that it is, encouraged the following: Just love him. Feel everything you need to feel about the situation, think everything your mind compels you to think about him, and send him love. You cannot hurt yourself by opening yourself to love. Love heals. It’s the attachments and expectations you place on love that create suffering. And, the moment you place any conditions on love, it becomes something else anyway. A product of the mind. Love has no conditions.
As I share in the video, I took my heart’s advice and decided to give energy not just to the friend in question but to everyone I could think of whom I didn’t like, or felt wronged by, or believed was causing harm to our world. One by one I brought them into my heart (lots of politicians!) until I felt genuine love for them. To be clear, I still didn’t like most of them or want any of them in my life. Love doesn’t require that. And let me tell you, it felt really good to see how loving I could be, no matter what. What extraordinary power there is in being able to love those your mind compels you to hate.
I hope the video resonates with you all. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
It is not necessary to compromise one single thing in the decision to love our fellow human beings, no matter what we think about them. Well, except for the suffering that comes with hating one another. A good compromise, I think. I am done with the us vs them energy of this country. I am done with the othering of one another. I am done with activism that doesn’t have, at its foundation, a commitment to compassion and love. Anything we feel called to do can be done with love, and everything we do with love is of service to ourselves and our world.
I feel called to say one more thing before I sign off: love is often the most difficult choice to make. We only need look at the state of the world to know that’s the case. As I wrote in the last email, difficult is not impossible. Not even close.
I know a lot of you reading this newsletter are lovers too, and I thank you with all my heart for your willingness to rest in yours. Let’s continue to do the difficult and extraordinarily beneficial work of loving the hell out of ourselves and our world.
Big and Bigger Love,
Scott
