Riepilogo Editore:

Cornice musicale: ballate dello Yorkshire.

âItâs a boy. Iâve been thinking, or I was you know, on the way over here. What if he looks like him?â

Kent Hamilton offers Chick Lit novels that rather than opening a few paragraphs to get to the boudoir and the steam, opts for a simple gentle romance. And he plays it very well. It is refreshing to read a story that is more about two people getting to know each other through the magic of place and shared interests rather that a relationship built solely on the physical gratification.

It is gratifying to know that an author already established in Chick Lit is able to see that not all romance stories today need to be in the realm of erotica. His three short books deal with a courtship, a marriage, a pregnancy and the need for understanding, sensitivity and forgiveness.

The stories are individually titled â Without a Hitch, Fatal Attraction to Love, and Piece of Cake â they all are the tale of a couple who find each other and overcome hurdles that test true love.

John is a tennis coach with an easygoing life: Everyone is always trying to set him up, but his dates never seem to click on an emotional level. That is until he meets Kari in an unexpected way. Kari Goodbar is a baker who has no remaining family after her husband Mark has died. They made plans to start a family, and she is going through with them after his death. John comes into her life in a whirlwind. Their meeting is unexpected, and not exactly ideal, but things have a way of working themselves out. They fall in love in an instant, but it falls apart just as quickly. Their stubbornness separates them, but true love canât be foiled by something so basic. They are both forced to face reality, to see that the lives they have been living are incomplete, that they do not want to go back to how things were before, and that they want to spend their lives together. A romantic courtship led John to run to Kariâs bedside at the hospital when pregnancy complications occurred, and the checkup resulted in a wedding that happened at the hospital!

But those excerpts donât offer the cohesion of the synopsis: âImagine yourself thinking that you will have to give into the parental pressure of getting married, and then stumbling into your one true love. Two characters destined to be together despite all of the odds working against them.

Title: Brides of War

Publisher's Summary:

In the aftermath of the Second World War, two women leave England for new lives as GI brides. Gracie Brown starts her married life living with her husband Jeff's family: an overbearing mother-in-law and a brother-in-law whom her husband detests.

Valerie Brampton and her lawyer husband, Ross, have their own property, but with a past girlfriend still holding on to hope of a relationship with him, all is far from settled. As they learn more about their new husbands, can their marriages, formed in the uncertain times of war, survive through peacetime?

Members Reviews:

Quick, easy read.

Enjoyed, but sometimes questioned the characters motives and decisions. I wish the author had gone in more depth at times. The book was definitely a B+ for me.

A great fast paced story

Gracie and Valerie are both war brides who are on their way to America to be reunited with their husbands. Gracie married Jeff who's living in Barton, a small mountain town. They move in with his parents, because Jeff doesn't have enough money for a place of their own yet. Valerie married Ross, who's working for his father's law firm in New York. They move into a beautiful luxurious apartment. Soon the two women find out that nothing is as it seems and life with their new husbands might not be as ideal as they initially thought...

Gracie is such a sweet girl and I didn't want anything to happen to her. She doesn't deserve what's coming to her at all. I felt so bad for her and was glad that although most things weren't all right some good things were happening as well. Valerie is much more talented than she thought and she soon discovers she can have a life of her own in America. Her husband isn't very supportive, but I knew she would be all right. Both women have to go through a lot. Life isn't just sunshine and happiness and I liked that June Tate didn't avoid the bad moments. She never sugarcoated them or let them be balanced with an exact amount of good. Still the book isn't negative at all.

I found a few editing mistakes, but not enough to be bothered. I liked the story so much that I looked past them and continued enjoying the story. I loved that it isn't heavy and that the story is fast paced. A lot happens at once and Brides of War is never boring. The friendship between Gracie and Valerie is beautiful and that special connection makes the story even better. They both go their different ways, but they never forget each other. I think War Brides is a wonderful read about life, relationships, friendship, finding yourself and difficult but necessary decisions.

Brides of War by June Tate

When Gracie Rider and Valerie Johnson leave their UK lives behind them to start new lives as GI brides in America after the end of the Second World War. They are full of hopes and dreams of what their lives will be. However all is not plain sailing, as they soon discover the reality of the dream to be not what they expected.

I really enjoyed reading this story, the brand new novel from author June Tate. It was the remarkable brave and strong leading ladies in the book that I really liked. Their determination, strength and independence to get what they want out of life, makes the story intriguing and the characters very likeable. I would really like to see what happens next for these wonderful women. I do hope there will be a sequel.

Not a War Bride Story

Dont bother reading it.

Critic Reviews:

Mussos romaner er pageturnere. Nr man frst er begyndt at lse, kan man ikke lgge dem fra sig igen. Opkald fra en engel starter som en romantisk komedie, men udvikler sig s til en hsblsende thriller.

A bad boy romance collection full of your favorite authors from the Scribble XO Book Club

Fighter - Catalene

The worst part about my exile wasn't the cold ass Canadian weather. It wasn't the long days in the gym or the even longer nights dreaming of my shot at the title.

Nope, it wasn't that. It was him.

Him and his green eyes. My coach was just the man to help me resurrect my dwindling career in the cage. I didn't expect it to be so hard. I definitely wasn't ready for how hard I fell for him. What if he can't handle my demons?

A Caged Heart MMA three book series

And now that tragedy has struck I can't help but be drawn towards him as we cling to each other like never before. I know he'll hate me once he realizes that his world fell apart because of me.

Cain

I can't change the past but I'm damn well determined to move forward with Jasmine. How could I not? I've fantasized about her for years. And now with her at my side I can finally focus on winning my first title in the cage. But something just doesn't seem right. I feel like, she's hiding something from me.

Amara

After all that we had been through the last thing I needed was to get myself involved with a cocky cage fighter, even if he was the most gorgeous blonde I'd ever seen. I just needed to focus on my job and move on to the next patient. But every time I saw him he disarmed me with his charm and made my heart do things I'd never seen before.
