Kent Hamilton offers Chick Lit novels that rather than opening a few paragraphs to get to the boudoir and the steam, opts for a simple gentle romance. And he plays it very well. It is refreshing to read a story that is more about two people getting to know each other through the magic of place and shared interests rather that a relationship built solely on the physical gratification.
It is gratifying to know that an author already established in Chick Lit is able to see that not all romance stories today need to be in the realm of erotica. His three short books deal with a courtship, a marriage, a pregnancy and the need for understanding, sensitivity and forgiveness.
The stories are individually titled â Without a Hitch, Fatal Attraction to Love, and Piece of Cake â they all are the tale of a couple who find each other and overcome hurdles that test true love.
John is a tennis coach with an easygoing life: Everyone is always trying to set him up, but his dates never seem to click on an emotional level. That is until he meets Kari in an unexpected way. Kari Goodbar is a baker who has no remaining family after her husband Mark has died. They made plans to start a family, and she is going through with them after his death. John comes into her life in a whirlwind. Their meeting is unexpected, and not exactly ideal, but things have a way of working themselves out. They fall in love in an instant, but it falls apart just as quickly. Their stubbornness separates them, but true love canât be foiled by something so basic. They are both forced to face reality, to see that the lives they have been living are incomplete, that they do not want to go back to how things were before, and that they want to spend their lives together. A romantic courtship led John to run to Kariâs bedside at the hospital when pregnancy complications occurred, and the checkup resulted in a wedding that happened at the hospital!
