It’s New Years Eve! Hope everyone’s celebrating in their own fashion knowing that 2021 is going to be an amazing year. It WILL. There aren’t any other options. We’re not kidding around here.

ANYWAY, we finally watched the Welcome To Night Vale live show from, what, two weeks ago? It was delightfully upsetting in true Night Vale fashion. After recapping that we have the weekly SitRep (otherwise known here as “What we did for Christmas”), the usual discussion of Lore Olympus, and Elizabeth finished up all fifteen seasons of Supernatural and she has GREAT BIG SPOILERS for how it all ended.

(As a treat this week we’re letting listeners hear a little of the background discussion that we usually cut from the final edit. Some people would call this “pulling back the curtain”. We’re calling it “too funny to leave out”.)

When it comes to the season two finale of The Mandalorian, we really don’t have a choice: we’re going to have to geek out about it for fifteen minutes. We know, we know, it’s a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it. (Also, the mid-credits scene: eeeeeeeeeee!)

Before that we have our weekly SitRep-With-Beers which, because it’s Christmas, is going to stay positive YES IT IS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THERE WILL BE NO COMPLAINING AT CHRISTMAS. And afterwards we break down everything that happened in the latest chapter of Lore Olympus. Which was both a lot, and not as much as we wanted. (Somebody needs to talk to Hades and Artemis about Persephone and they need to do it four chapters ago…)

There’s no new Welcome to Night Vale episode to recap quite yet, so once again we go back to the well that is The Mandalorian and the webcomic Lore Olympus, with the addition this week of Black Mirror, and we’ve got some questions. What exactly was the face-scan on the latest episode of The Mandalorian supposed to accomplish? Why did Hades and Zeus freeze and look like they both knew they went too far in the latest issue of Lore Olympus? And who actually did murder the TV reporter in the Black Mirror episode “Black Museum” if it wasn’t the executed criminal?

We’ve got the answers to exactly none of these questions, but we do have a spoilerrific discussion of all of them. We also have the weekly SitRep with beer, and we talk about vaccines and politics (and the politics of vaccines), and the ethics of singling people out for abuse on the internet. Then we jump up and down in excitement at the new trailer for the Loki TV show, because EEEEEEEEEE!

Of course we recap a deliciously creepy Night Vale episode, full of cemeteries and time loops and the worst-case scenario when it comes to hermit crabs. Of course we geek out over badass Mandalorians and adorable frog women. And of course we debate paying the extra money to read Lore Olympus early because we want all of the content and we want it faster.

But there’s also about 16 minutes in the middle where the weekly SitRep With Beers gets kind of dark because the world’s a bit scary right now and sometimes you have to rant about it until you feel a little better. The SitRep starts at 12:50 and ends at 29:50 if you’d like to leapfrog over it. (Get it? Leapfrog? Because the next part is about the frog woman in the Mandalorian? IT’S CLEVER.)
