  • Monday Morning Moreno – Up Close and Personal w/ Luke Norris
Well, I’ll tell you there’s nothing like pulling yourself out of your comfort zone.  When you’ve been podcasting for as long as I have, talking movies and TV, you generally want to stab someone for having to hash over the same old shit. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy it because I do, it’s just that I want to stab someone after a while.
That’s why starting Binge Media with Jim Law has been such a relief, a breath of fresh air, if you will.  Having the ability to do whatever you want and still maintain an audience is something that we both are eternally grateful for.  It humbles us to this day.  But being able to have a podcast about music or games or our kids or whatever is incredibly freeing.
To that extent, I wanted to level the playing field.  Game of Thrones, new music Tuesdays, the start of the big movie season, it’s all encompassing and overstimulating, and this week I wanted to scale things back and just talk. About anything other than TV, music or movies.
And so I contacted Luke Norris, writer of Binge Sports and Working the Weekend, host of the Binge SportsCast, and creator of The Luke Norris Experience.  But most importantly, a father of two beautiful daughters who light up his life.  Luke made a decision to write for a living and that is the catalyst for this podcast.
What goes on in this episode is two guys, two fathers and writers, talking about life and life experiences, fears and motivations and everything in between.  This is the loosest conversation I’ve ever had on a podcast, if not the most cathartic.  There was no agenda, only that I wanted to talk about Luke’s decision to focus solely on writing.
If you’ve ever had a really good friend that you can sit around and drink with in the garage or basement or deck and talk until the sun comes up, this podcast is definitely for you.
We plan to do a few more of these Up Close and Personal podcasts, so hopefully this sticks with someone and finds an audience.
Hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we enjoyed recording it.
    Salud.

  • BingeCast: Inside Out, The Girl On the Train, Best Directors of All Time, and much more
Ready for our longest show ever? We weren’t. These hangovers I wake up with every Sunday morning are going to be the death of me. I used to think it would be cutting the grass. Now it’s going to be podcasting.
Things kick off with some Literally Literary featuring reviews for The Girl On the Train and Night Film.
Then we get to summarizing our thoughts on the ending of Game of Thrones in TV Round-Up.
Next up is some Google Voice messages.
Then we give our complete lists of our favorite directors of all time.
Rounding out the night (morning at this point) we discuss what we watched and review INSIDE OUT, INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3, THE GUNMAN, and take another run at JURASSIC WORLD.
How that extends to four and a half hours is beyond me. Strap in.

  • Angry Drunk Movie Dads: The Jim Carrey Episode
One of us took the Movie Homework serious. One of us is doing it wrong. Last month Ammon and Law decided to have a contest to see who could show their kids the most Jim Carrey movies. From that we get to discuss DUMB & DUMBER, ACE VENTURE: PET DETECTIVE, ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS, BATMAN FOREVER, LIAR LIAR, and LEMONY SNICKET.
Then we discuss what our family movie schedule looks like for the Summer and next episode’s homework, which I can’t remember but I think it involves pirates.

  • Binge SportsCast: The Championship Edition
It’s been a busy few days in the sports world with the crowning of two new champions, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Golden State Warriors. So, the decision was pretty easy this week as I invited a big Blackhawks fan in Kupka, and a big Warriors fan in Garrett to join me for this championship edition of the Binge SportsCast.
Over the course of this very entertaining show, the three of us obviously discuss the Blackhawks and Warriors, but we also hit on a few topics within those topics as well. Garrett shares some great stories of attending Golden State games with his father, and I discuss my connection to them as well as I once again revisit playing basketball in my driveway with a young Shaun Livingston. On the hockey side, we discuss the term “dynasty”, what it means, and our feelings on the topic in general.
It’s also US Open week in the golf world, so we spend a few minutes at the end discussing the interesting golf course where this year’s tournament will take place. And I also make an announcement near the end of the show about an upcoming appearance I’ll be making next week.
These shows just keep getting better and better, and this week’s is no exception. If you’d like to let us know what you thought, or if there’s something you’d like me to hit on next time, catch me on Twitter @BingeSports and/or @THElukenorris. And you can catch Kupka @jekupka and Garrett @GarrettCollin13. Enjoy. You’ll be hearing from me soon.

  • BingeCast: TV Round Up – Game of Thrones Commentary S5 Ep 10
It’s all over folks.  Season 5 came and went as fast as Reek growing a new pair of nuts.  Or perhaps something faster.  I’m not good with metaphors.  While we did have some issues, and do consider this season to be the weakest to date, we are still happily going along with the show.  No disenfranchised book/show fans here.
Hope you guys and girls enjoy the commentary, and we’ll see you next year.

  • BingeCast: Jurassic World, Soaked In Bleach, Supermensch, Ammon’s Dreadlocks, and more
This week’s show has tales from Ammon’s Korn roadie days, a couple great voicemails and tons of talk about Game of Thrones, JURASSIC WORLD, SOAKED IN BLEACH, SUPERMENSCH, A.I., SUCKER PUNCH, INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, TAXI DRIVER, and BETTER OFF DEAD. I wish this summary could be longer but I’m a giant hungover polar bear that hates life right now. Take it or leave it. Don’t leave it, we love you. I can’t stop pooping.

  • Monday Morning Moreno – Game of Thrones S5 Finale with TM
My head hurts and I hate everything right now, so this won’t be a long intro.  Game of Thrones season five finale premiered last night and I had TM and his lovely chick KariTM to discuss our immediate thoughts of it.  Did we love it? Did we hate it? Am I hungover? All are answered here.
Supka shows up in the last third of the show to give his thoughts and we all proceed to drink ourselves silly.
    Listen. Laugh. Love.

  • Binge SportsCast: RIP Dusty Rhodes, Meeting Jerry Lawler, WWE Money In The Bank PPV
It’s a sad day in the wrestling world, but the show goes on. The tag team podcast champions of the world, Batch and Luke, are back with an all-new wrestling version of the Binge SportsCast. Only this time, they’ve got help in the form of Garrett Collins in his first appearance on the show, and what a great fucking show it is.
With the passing of Dusty Rhodes this past week, the boys spend a lot of time talking about their earliest memories and favorite moments of this legendary figure, and also how his death could benefit Cody Rhodes as it pertains to business.
Luke also talks about his trip to Metropolis, IL and meeting another icon in the business, Jerry “The King” Lawler, and watching the legend wrestle in an alley in front of 300 people.
After Luke and Batch pitch Garrett on the beauties of the WWE Network (for only $9.99), they finish up the show by talking the Money in the Bank PPV, Kevin Owens vs John Cena, and their favorite cash-ins of all time.
Honestly, this is probably the best Binge SportsCast yet. Enjoy. And if you do, let us know that you did. Find us @BingeSports, @THElukenorris, @multiversefive, and @GarrettCollin13.

Movie Homework makes it’s glorious return to our airwaves with Ammon, Moreno, and Law studying the fine intricacies of VERTICAL LIMIT. People jump. People explode. People cry. People do other stuff. Ammon has already experienced the greatness of the film many times but for Law and Moreno, this is the first viewing. Consider our cherries popped. • Binge Movie Aftertaste w/ Kenlon Clark
Going without Jason Morris this week, Johnny Moreno and I take the reigns of Binge Movie Aftertaste by ourselves. And even though we certainly missed our lovely co-host, we ended up with one of the most interesting conversations we have ever had, this being with the director of Synapse, Kenlon Clark.
We start things off by catching up and talking about what we have seen this week, and I reveal that Insidious Chapter 3 didn’t exactly float my boat. In fact, I felt the boat sink after that horrible film was over. I also mention that I saw San Andreas, which I had a much better time with. And then the constant mentions of Inception begin, as Moreno and I both talk about how much we cannot get enough of this movie.
We keep the Inception conversation going when we get music video/film director Kenlon Clark on the line. Clark doesn’t waste any time out Inception-ing us by revealing he owns the film’s script and studies its intricacies on a regular basis. Yeah, we suck. Clark spends some time talking about his music video career, and how obsessive he is about storyboarding. Past Aftertaste guest Adam Simon is brought up, and Clark talks about how he met Synapse writer Simon, and subsequently ended up with the Synapse directing gig. He then mentions we can expect some exciting stuff from this duo in the future.
Moreno and I then bring up the Keanu Reeves hosted documentary Side By Side, which looks at the the debate between the uses of film versus digital in filmmaking. Some interesting points are made, and Clark even says that he attended a screening in LA that featured a Q&A with Reeves himself. No, he did NOT apologize for the Matrix sequels.
All this plus some scattered King of Hollywood talk, when people can expect to see Synapse….and did I mention the Inception talk? After Clark hangs up, Moreno and I get into a conversation about what the existence of these so-called Big Trouble in Little China remake rumors mean for the future of our favorite childhood films. Hint: It’s only a matter of time before everything you grew up with gets re imagined. I then question the lack of judgment I had by hanging up on Clark before getting into this conversation. Once again, we suck.
We would like to thank Clark for coming on the podcast, and you can bet both he and Simon will return to the Binge airwaves very soon. Check out the trailer to Synapse below.
