We all need to look at our self as a whole. There is so much more to us, than the symptoms and stigma, that goes with the struggle, of living with Bipolar and Depression. We need to focus on the other parts of out lives that we have not looked at in a while. We have other gifts and talents that people need to know about. We need to get off ourselves and the symptoms that we seem to focus on the most. We need to start looking at ourselves as a whole person, not just a person living in the diagnosis of Bipolar and Depression. Use your gifts, and be a light to someone else. I would love to hear from you. What's on your mind? What are your gifts? Where are you in your life. What are you doing to fight the fight. [email protected]. Check out my site, and more of my story. When we are trying to help someone, we need to make sure we listen and pay attention to our body language. Our focus needs to be on the person who is suffering. We need to make sure we do not judge! We can never tell a person how to feel, or how they should be feeling. We need to gain trust, by telling the truth. We need to use parts of our stories, as needed, to make the point that we can relate. As always, use your sense of humor. I don't care how bad things can be in our lives, there is always something funny. My sense of humor has been my best weapon. I don't hide behind it. I use it from what I have overcome. The path to recovery begins with the way we think. It may sound easy, but it is not. For some people it can be the biggest stumbling block for moving forward. Anger seems to be a wall for many of us, and how we deal with it. It is important to talk about it. There are different ways to do that. We also have to know that, no matter how we got in such dark places, we can not blame others for where we are. No matter what, no matter how horrible our lives get when it comes to living with the symptoms of Depression, and Bipolar, We are responsible for Getting Well! We may have to begin with forgiveness of ourselves, and others. Forgiveness is for us, not for others. By not forgiving others, we stay in a cage of anger and even rage. The only way to be free, is to forgive. You are not letting those who hurt us, off the hook. By forgiving, we are being set free, and lightening our load. This action can catapult us to the beginning or road to recovery. Make the right choice. Free yourself. This episode points out how important support groups are, but you have to be aware of a group that is not affective, and not life giving. Continue to find the right group for you. Don't be turned off. Most groups are very good, and are very affective. You might even need to report what you have learned to the organization. I will always promote DBSA. Because of my diagnosis, I believed I was not capable of making choices to begin the recovery process. I believed that my condition in the state of depression, gave me an excuse to not be responsible for getting well. We always have choices. We must choose life-giving choices, instead of choosing to be disabled due to our diagnosis. I responded to what I have been reading on mental health support sites. Many people are encouraging others. Many people share how long they have been struggling with Bipolar and Depression. A lot of encouragement. Then there were posts where people are just stuck, and are living with defeatist attitudes. I choose to fight those thoughts! Positive thinking, positive attitude, productive thinking. I will vs. I won't. I can instead of I Can't. Being grateful and helping each other through these horrible thoughts and feelings, is a step towards healing. This the continuation of my first manic episode as a 15 year old kid. I was brought to the hospital, put in a room, tranquilized, and fastened to a bed face down with leather restraints. My experience there with a whole cast of characters. Even though I thought my stay there was pointless, I was starting the beginning of my education on what I was dealing with. Stay tuned for more. Peace...https://vmpecom.samcart.com/products/bipolar-disorder-mental-health-challenge-or-mental-illness
My experience is not just with depression. I have lived with Bipolar for over 30 years. I will be adding these experiences, and sharing them with you. I was holding back. What if people know about this? People at work? I don't care! I cannot be afraid to share what I have, and how I get through it. If anyone hears one thing that helps them to choose life over death, than that is a win! I choose to make my life a Mental Health Challenge, and Not a Mental Illness! Keep Listening, Keep Fighting! Find the comedy in your day. Peace...https://vmpecom.samcart.com/products/bipolar-disorder-mental-health-challenge-or-mental-illness
