The Galaxy Invader.

Hard to believe this one was released in 1985. Although a great effort and obviously Don Dohler is never short on passion when making a movie, this film has one of the worst looking rubber monster suits even by 1950's standards.

What it lacks in effects and story it makes up in heart. All the Don Dohler regulars are in this one and are on their game. Even the final product of his films are sometimes the subject of ridicule, you can't say the guy did not have the guts to get out there and make a movie.

The mid 80's were the greatest time for not only movies, but also robots. They were the future. The way the were portrayed on film was either friendly machines that would help you do things around the house, or rampaging killing machines. This weeks episode contains the latter.

Although anything with Barbara Crampton in it is fine with us, this movie has some serious problems. The special effects are not so special, and it seems like the robot design was really not thought out at all. They can shoot lasers at you but seem to enjoy pinching more than anything.

But it is still worth a watch and has all the stereotypes of this era that you can think of.

It is played straight and serious and the creature gives us some of the most memorable kill scenes in film history. The sink scene in this is worth the price of admission alone. But we get much more than that and as with John Carpenters remake of "The Thing", this film is mostly remembered for the visuals rather than the acting or directing. Which is a shame as everything in this film is done top notch.
