Pelvic organ prolapse is a condition related to the downward migration of organs that sit inside the pelvis that can affect just under 50% of all women at some point in their lifetime. Buffy discusses the unique and individual nature of this condition with Megan (a pelvic physical therapist) as well as a complementary and conservative tool called a pessary that can be used to provide women with symptom relief and help with getting back to an active full life.
Increasing awareness of pessaries is an important step in improving women's healthcare as a conservative and often very helpful complement to pelvic physical therapy. ESPECIALLY for younger women.
One of the reasons I began this podcast, blogging, and posting on social media about pelvic health is because of my daily interactions with people who have NEVER heard of PELVIC PHYSICAL THERAPY. Ironically, pelvic health issues are INCREDIBLY COMMON among girls and women of all ages and pelvic health physical therapists are the best first professionals to work with to resolve these issues.
In this episode, I go over what we do, what is our background and training, and what does working with a pelvic PT look like.

The messages surrounding us women about sex and our bodies is ALL around us, and (SURPRISE) they ARE NOT very helpful. This makes it even HARDER to heal from issues like painful sex which 50% of ALL women will experience at some point in our lives.

She hits the nail on the head when it comes to articulating exactly how it can feel to be going through this and offers actionable steps for women and couples.
