In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing Brooke Shapiro - a mom of two, founder, 15+ year marketing professional, and ice cream connoisseur. We discuss Brooke's personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and the lack of support she received as a new mother…like her boss denying her promotion and calling maternity leave “vacation”, and her dad asking her to pick up Chipotle for him a few hours after giving birth. Where was the village we always hear about?!
Determined to learn, overcome, and share resources with others, these experiences led Brooke to launch an Employee Resource Group for parents at her corporate job, and eventually found Sprinkles Parents, a Bay Area community that supports families from newborn to kindergarten age. She also highlights an amazing platform called Villie, which helps expecting families build their village.
Brooke's work focuses on bringing back the “village” mentality, providing resources, and helping families navigate the challenges of parenthood. Her passion for connecting parents and creating a supportive community is evident throughout the episode, making it an inspiring and informative listen no matter what season of motherhood you are in.
