Zaiba and Uzma “call the midwife today” because how can you have new mommy memoirs without one?!?!?! Krystina Friedlander, Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) joins us today to talk about her journey to midwifery and its foundations in social justice work and original motherhood. Some of us know how miraculous these bodies are, but a lot more of us don’t know how much at risk those magnificent machines are outside of a maternal village of birth workers and momsisters. Birth trauma and poor outcomes are becoming more prevalent when we have a lot of privileges our female counterparts don’t have outside the United States. What gives? Let’s look at what happened particularly in America to create one of the many “mommy wars” we witness (and do not condone at MWM!) today.

Remember that the day a baby is born, so is her mother. Let’s explore moms’ options and elevate those who walk us into motherhood the way it can be done.
