Bittersweet Moment #154: The Good News about Depressing Math

Listen Later

How many weeks (roughly) do you have left to live? The answer will probably shock you, accoriding to author and cartoonisht Tim Urban, as most of us like to think our lives are, somehow, infinite. But even more surprising than that, Urban points out, are the number of days we have left with the people closest to us, not because they are about to die, but because we simply see them much less often than we once did.

On this mini-episode, Katy reads some excerpts from Tim's recent opinion piece for the New York Times, How Covid Stole Our Time, and How We Can Get It Back, an article that offers (impossible as it sounds) a positive opportunity that comes from understanding this stark reality.

Tim Urban is the author and illustrator of the blog Wait But Why. You can also find him on Instagram and Twitter.
