Genuine , humble , and truly understanding of all cultures and how he has had to adjust and adapt to those cultures overtime . He vents with us today about the dynamic of being “white” and starting a life up in a black neighborhood in Nashville . Originally from Durham NC, Will is the co-founder of the popular Nashville program known as “Corner To Corner”. He has been married to Corner to Corner’s co-founder, Tiffany, for over 16 years, and they have two wonderful children, Raylan and Penelope. Will is passionate about the Grace of God through Christ, and how that grace invites us to live a life of sacrificial love toward our city and our neighbors. At Corner to Corner that love of neighbor takes the form of educational and economic equity, creating a city where all can thrive 🙏🏽

Taking a slight shift in gears on today’s episode that I think a lot of you will appreciate . As you al know we normally bring a guest on to the show each and every Monday morning . Today, my pops and I decided we as host need to vent too. We can’t pour from a cup half full, so we want to take the mic on today’s episodes and vent about something we ALL need to hear .

Accountability … Johnathon & Leon Davis, Jr. dive deep into the meaning of accountability and how black men have to do better at it. Not only do we not hold each other accountable , but we don’t hold ourselves accountable which presents consequences . Johnathon vents about accountability in the work place , within family , and in relationships . He details that within all three , having accountability shows you’re willing to accept hearing the statement “I’m wrong”. Nobody likes to hear it , but this is what accountability is about . Pops takes the mic on the second half of today’s episode to vent about accountability from our government standpoint in regards to mental health . Leon was giving emphasis that our government leaders have to realize the severities that come with mental health and need to have things in place for those individuals . He speaks on how important it is to have laws in place so that it not only protects the one affected by the mental illness , but it also protects the ones around him/her.

From the start of our journey August 2nd of last year til now , we have seen substantial amounts of growth , support , and listenership . Today’s episode could possibly be a trigger to those that listen … so we as a business want to put the disclaimer out there for sensitive ears . A young man , Detroit native , joins us today by the name of Demetrius Logan . Nashville , this young man was gunned down in a fatal attempt in broad daylight; absorbing a total of 8 bullets in his body. One entering his head from his chin , a few bullets to the back , and some to the sternum.

8 bullets later he survived , is thriving , and lives gracefully with his wife and ironically … his 8 beautiful children 🖤

He wants to provide kids with a different outlook on life based off of his own , making kids aware of what the end game could be if the streets are all they know . Please welcome our good friend Ryan “Shaw Time” Shaw 🥊 to the Black Men Vent Too Podcast 🎙️

A very humble, and meek brother in spirit … Ryan is a hometown native here in Nashville . Attending Hunters Lane High School and Western Kentucky University, upon first impression, his subtle voice may catch you off guard. But so will his right hook or left jab.

Being 27 years old, Ryan has spent the last 5+ years learning about the sport of boxing . As a boxer , it was interesting to hear Mr. Shaw come to the vent table and vent on the topic “as a man, it’s okay to cry”. The faces of my father and I lit up as he discussed his point of view behind how important it is to take the time to release those emotions . Ryan talks about his unmatchable work ethic , and how it’s led him to where he’s at today . He also vents about how boxing has helped him cope with thoughts , and wasn’t afraid to let us know how important mental health is; which currently has him in a current period of rest behind a 5-0 undefeated record to focus on his own mental health .

Nashville , he’s been seen on major networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, the list goes on . We are excited to welcome Myles “The Millennial” Harris ⭐️ to the BMVT Vent Table! Myles is from Houston, Texas originally and has since then migrated his way to Nashville . While here , he has obtained his bachelors degree at Fisk University. Also while at Fisk , Myles was able to establish himself by joining Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. ; which led him to doing a host of other things on campus to make his leadership gift known . He vents with us on BMVT about the huge misconception between “reacting versus responding” . How hard is that for both men and women today ? Myles breaks down the meaning between the two and how both have their own consequences . He also talks to us about the importance of knowing your gift and how he was tired of running away from what he felt God had called him to be . Myles prides himself on his leadership , and shows it even today with the impact his best-selling book has had across the nation . Charles Key is by far one of the most talented artists there is . His first hobby that became a passion was cooking , but he decided to transition into art by doodling early on . Being raised in Los Angeles , Mr. Key vents about how rough it was coming up in the trenches , but talks highly of his dad and their relationship during his youthful age as well . Mr. Key has a beautiful story … and you can hear it all today on BMVT .

We are in the LAST EPISODE of our season titled “Raw Venting” on the Black Men Vent Too Podcast and we hope you have enjoyed the content thus far . All new episode we got for you guys on today! We end our “Raw Venting” season with an old school guest that gave us some added flavor to our platform . Nashville , we introduce to you Detroit native Rev. Robert Collins Jr.

Rev. Collins , affectionately known during his teaching days as “Mr. C” , represents the city of Detroit well with his message , his vision , and the way he lives his life . Mr. C attended American Baptist College from 1988-1991. He then enrolled at Vanderbilt Divinity School to receive his Master’s Degree in Divinity; which led him to pastoring for 15 years at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 1991.

Mr. C vents with us on today’s episode about a wide range of topics from children lacking a support system , all the way to venting about proper leadership in our community . He pleads to our culture that we as black people have to find a way to put pride aside , and join in unity for the betterment of the generations ahead .

Marcus “Meek” Johnson is a Nashville native and has a podcast himself titled “The Grandma Cookies Podcast” . A free spirited podcast that shares different opinions on random topics in a fun and engaging manner . He tells BMVT that his podcast is “a podcast about nothing”; stating that the best conversations are “unplanned conversations”.

Happiness … was the focus of our “Raw Venting” episode today . Meek led into his vent session talking about how it is so important to find true happiness in life . He shares how God can often times be the only person that listens to you , but sharing with Him your inner most feelings can bring out that happiness within . Meek even vented about his suicidal phase of life and how simply not caring about what others thought of him, was something that saved his life .

“Raw Venting” is the season title for this month, and our guest decided to focus his vent session on the wide gap between young adults attendance in church pre and post COVID . An engaging conversation between Leon , Johnathon and today’s guest as we discuss opinions behind why millennials are running from church. Johnathon goes on to say that the millennial generation isn’t in church heavily due to hypocritical experiences . Leon gives his input by sharing how it will take those millennials who are in church now , to reach the rest and bring us back together spiritually and culturally across all ages. But our guest … he sits down with us to hash out all of the opinions and views , #BMVT audience please welcome Rev Roosevelt Keys III 🌱

Rev Roosevelt Keys, III, was born October 3, 1976 to Elder and Mrs. Roosevelt Keys Jr. in Torrance CA.  He accepted Christ at an early age and began preaching at the tender age of 5 years old at the Church of God of Prophecy in Compton CA. During the time from 5 years old until this present-day God has allowed him to be very active in ministry. Moving from California to Houston, TX after graduating high school, his ministry continued to grow.  However, coming from one denomination to another has not stopped this energetic young man of faith.  He was licensed in the Baptist Faith in 1998 at the New Bright Star Missionary Baptist of Houston, TX under the leadership of Dr. Lester J. Scott and ordained at the Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in 2004 under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth Webster.  Reverend Keys has preached across the country, he has done workshops, participated in street ministry, taught Bible Study, and has preached Adult and Youth revivals. He is also an accomplished musician, playing the drums since the age of three has allowed him to play for many in the gospel music industry as well as several churches 🙏🏽
