I was putting my groceries away when I realized all of the labels on my kitchen counter.
As a collective, we put so much value, so much merit— even trust— into what a label says.
Once we label something, then we categorize it. We put them in a box.
Think about your pantry! Everything has its place.
Just like the grocery store.
In the store, the boxed/artificial foods are in the center of the store. Whereas the fresh produce is on the OUTSIDE of the store.
The healthier the food, the further out it is… They are the “outsiders”.
Just like the “good” people are on the outside whereas the ‘easily influenced’ are on the inside.
Just like Mean Girls, the movie. Every ‘group’ has their assigned seating section in the cafeteria.
And… this all turns into one analogy.
I realized, people feel safe when they can see a label. Because they’re able to see it and therefore make a quick decision— when in reality, the decision has already been made FOR them. For both people and food purchases.
“The real ones don’t need labels. The real ones don’t need an explanation... their fruit speaks for itself!!”
-- Saleena JustineFor example: if you go into a thorn bush, you cannot expect to get something good out of that bush.
We know the places to go to find the quality we seek.
Once I allowed myself to GET OVER the labels that others have given me or shown me, I have opened up to an entirely new world. I feel liberated and untouchable. I hope you’ll do the same after listening to this episode! XX.
REMEMBER:
EVEN IF you have a solid group of friends/family, it isn’t about what other people say. Even if they have merit and they’re trustworthy people. One friend may love spaghetti while the other friend loves fettuccine Alfredo. Does that make one of these bad? NO! They’re just different flavors for different people.
They are not wrong or right. They just are.
You must be confident in what you know for yourself and what you like for yourself.🧡
