🚨 JPMorgan Chase & Co., a prominent American banking institution, has embarked on preliminary investigations into harnessing blockchain technology’s potential for developing a digital deposit token. This token aims to serve as a digital representation of customers’ account deposits, offering the prospect of expediting and enhancing the efficiency of cross-border payments and settlements. 💲 The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission entered a consent order against Mirror Trading International Proprietary Limited (MTI) on September 6, finding it liable for fraud in connection with retail foreign currency (forex) transactions, fraud by a commodity pool operator (CPO), registration violations, and failure to comply with CPO regulations. MTI is a company currently in liquidation in the Republic of South Africa.

💲 The order stems from a CFTC complaint filed on June 30, 2022 and requires MTI to pay more than $1.7 billion in restitution to defrauded victims. https://lnkd.in/ddAMuGGd

💰 Animoca Brands closed a funding round of $20M supporting the acceleration of the Mocaverse to create digital IDs and a point system for Web3 culture, gaming and entertainment. If approved, these would mark the first spot for Ether ETFs in the United States. The exchange officially initiated the review process by filing 19b-4 documents on Wednesday. ❗ Genesis Global Capital has submitted legal documents asserting that Digital Currency Group (DCG) has outstanding debts of over $600 million. This includes $500 million from a specific loan and an additional 4,550 BTC owed by DCG International. The pair of filings on Thursday alleges that DCG borrowed up to $500 million across four different loans from Genesis in 2022, while DCGI borrowed 18,697.7 BTC in 2019

🚨 Important to note Genesis, filed for bankruptcy in January this year, and alleged in its Wednesday filings that DCG and DCGI are “wrongfully in possession of property” belonging to Genesis Global Capital’s bankruptcy estate.

🟢 MakerDAO cofounder Rune Christensen has proposed building the upcoming native chain for the decentralized finance project off of a fork of Solana’s codebase instead of the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Christensen believes that Solana’s codebase is the most promising option due to its technical quality, proven resilience, and existing examples of successful forks. The fintech intends to pay $605.7 million for the shares that were transferred to the custody of the U.S. government after the bankruptcy of SBF’s businesses. 🔥 Robinhood added wallet support for bitcoin (BTC) and dogecoin (DOGE), increasing the breadth of its crypto wallet beyond the Ethereum ecosystem.
All users of the Robinhood wallet can now send and receive BTC and DOGE, the company said in an emailed statement. It said its six-month-old wallet has hundreds of thousands of users spread across 140 countries.

🔻 OKX and Bybit remove sanctioned Russian banks from the payments list
Tinkoff Bank and Sberbank are no longer available on the list of P2P transactions on Bybit and OKX. According to Russian media, local users can no longer receive fiat money in exchange for their crypto on Tinkoff Bank or Sberbank accounts on the P2P platforms of OKX and Bybit. Cointelegraph article states at the time of publication, OKX still allows users to receive fiat to their accounts of the Russian branch of Raiffeisen Bank and the Russian Standard Bank.
