💥 Balancer, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol operating on the Ethereum blockchain, has recently disclosed a critical vulnerability impacting several of their V2 Pools. Crucial Info via Twitter here https://lnkd.in/e4Y_2rk9

- Emergency mitigation procedures have been executed to secure a majority of TVL, but some funds remain at risk.
- Users are advised to withdraw affected LPs immediately.
- Important to note this vulnerability has not been exploited, and no funds have been lost.

exit from all affected pools, and pause any pools still within the pause window.

🛑 A federal judge ruled against a group of Coinbase-backed investors and developers last week who alleged the U.S. Department of the Treasury overstepped its authority in sanctioning Tornado Cash. ❗ China is looking to bring its highly-controversial social credit system to the metaverse. POLITICO article here https://lnkd.in/dQmHmw5C states The proposals, drafted by the state-owned telecoms operator China Mobile, floated a “Digital Identity System” for all users of online virtual worlds, or metaverses. They recommended that the digital ID should work with “natural characteristics” and “social characteristics” that include a range of personal data points like people’s occupations, “identifiable signs” and other attributes. They also suggested this information be “permanently” stored and shared with law enforcement “to keep the order and safety of the virtual world.”

💥Ether futures ETF 🚨Banning CBDC is essential to America’s Fintech Future’ 🔴Ledger announces U.S. PayPal integration ⚡1,005 BTC mined in 2010 on the move

💥Asset management firm Valkyrie filed for an Ether futures exchange-traded fund with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug. 16. As per the application, the fund will not directly invest in Ether but will seek to purchase a number of ETH futures contracts. Eric Balchunas, Senior ETF Analyst for Bloomberg mentioned via Twitter https://lnkd.in/daUq8nyG

❗ Important to note According to Valkyrie’s application, the ETF investment in Ether futures contracts will be limited to 8,000 contracts per month, in compliance with position limits established by the CHICAGO MERCANTILE EXCHANGE INC.. Futures contracts are standardized agreements to buy or sell an asset at a future point at a specific price. If approved, investors will be able to wager on future prices of Ether through the ETF.

🔴 US Congressman Warren Davidson has railed against central bank digital currencies (CBDC), stating that enacting a ban on these instruments is “essential” for the future of the fintech industry in America. Davidson explained that many people wrongly conflate cryptocurrencies with CBDC when these are two different concepts.

🟠 Blockstream intends to buy and store ASIC mining hardware ahead of Bitcoin’s halving in 2024. In an interview with Cointelegraph, Blockstream mining sales head James Macedonio unpacked the company’s plans to take advantage of a “huge separation” in the value of Bitcoin BTC. It is looking to raise up to $50 million to purchase and store mining equipment that it perceives to be undervalued on secondary markets. Article here https://lnkd.in/dyvkZv7x

🔸 Blockstream is partnering with Luxembourg-based digital securities marketplace STOKR to launch the Blockstream ASIC (BASIC) Note. Macedonio said that Blockstream will look to initially secure $5 million for its Series 1 BASIC Notes, each valued at $115,000, to buy ASICs at scale, store and then sell them back to the market as demand for hardware picks up into 2024.

🚨 Binance to shut down its buy-and-sell service Binance Connect, formerly known as Bifinity, just one year after its launch, the company said in a statement. The service will be disabled on Aug. 16 as the crypto exchange wants to refocus on its main products and long-term goals, according to Binance. A spokesperson told CoinDesk in an emailed statement. - Decrypt has reported that crypto custodian Prime Trust has filed for bankruptcy. Article here https://lnkd.in/dpjJqJqx. The article states Prime Trust made headlines when rival crypto custodian BitGo signed a letter of intent to acquire the company, but backed out just two weeks later. BitGo did not give a reason for ending the deal.

❗ Prime Trust owed over $82 million to customers from missing fiat currency deposits, despite having $68 million in digital assets under custody.
