This week the Bloody Good Film Podcast is digging a little more into Anime with one of the few properties that Josh is actually familar with Alita: Battle Angel... or Battle Angel: Alita...or Battle Angel... Or Gunm... American's had to make this confusing.

First on deck is the 1993 "movie" Battle Angel. Which is more of a two episode cartoon smooshed together to come in just under and hour. But it's movie like, and Letterbox has it so that's good enough for the low standards of this podcast. We'll dig into our thoughts on Alita's...er Gally's story in this classic anime based on the Manga.

After that we tackle James Camerons...er Robert Rodriguez's live action adaption, Alita: Battle Angel. Josh and Jesse dig into what does...and what definitely doesn't work about this movie.

It's been about a year since we covered the last Scream movie, which means they're getting back to really shooting out these sequels. That's never gone wrong in slasher films... but then again this is a Scream movie so shooting out fast sequels maybe the filmmakers being META... GENIUS

Two movies have been among the most divisive films of 2023 so far, Skinamarink and The Outwaters. Now that everyone has put their own spin on them and the hype has finally died down the Bloody Good Film Podcast has decided to weigh in on the debate. But they're not gonna do it alone.

For awhile people have noted that Jesse and frequent 2023 guest Kelly have never appeared on the same podcast episode together. Some even claimed that Kelly was possibly Jesse in some wild Andy Kaufman like character. Well we're putting that rumor to rest this episode as we finally pitted the two of them together in this episode.

This episode is bittersweet in that it has your favorite host talk Highlander with Jesse and returning guest Laura Magee. It's only bitter in that with The Source and the Search for Vengeance we have run out of Highlander movies to talk about. In past episodes Josh has made convincing arguments for why this franchise is better than it's made out to be. The running joke being "There should have only been one movie." Well in this episode we're gonna further test the warrants of that statement.

First movie on the block is the last of the live action Highlander movies (for now), Highlander: The Source. With a 1.3 on Letterbox, has the Source earned it's bad reputation, or is everyone just hating on Duncan?

After that we cover the first anime film for the podcast. Highlander: The Search For Vengeance, a film that really gives immortality a run for its money with a storyline that crosses 2,000 years.

In the end the only question that matters is whether or not Highlander: The Source and Highlander: The Search For Vengeance are BLOODY GOOD FILMS?

Well Josh has been talking about comics since the beginning of this movie podcast, so it was only a matter of time before he hounded one of his favorite writers Joshua Dysart (writer for Harbinger, Goodnight Paradise, Unknown Soldier, Swamp Thing, Brood X and much more), to record an episode. Jesse tried his very best to join the recording for this week but for crazy fandom reasons that only a true fan of the arts would understand, Josh sabotaged him. With this episode actually dropping on Valentine's Day there was no way that we couldn't cover a couple of Valentine's Day movies. This podcast has been freakishly scarce on Cronenberg considering how big a fans we are of movies like the Fly and Videodrone. The thing about the Bloody Good Film Podcast though, is we don't believe in taking full measures.
